Well it all depends. You have to use common sense. If you know your parents are like drug addcits, they are always behind bars, smoke while a baby is in the house then think about it?. If your parents are nothing like what I have said before and you are a tennager then no they are not role models at all. Everything that they say at this time will irritate you and you might even think that most of the things they say are dumb, stupid and so old!! Believe me when you grow up and have your own family you will thank them for everything they ever told you and you will come to find out that they were right. My advice do not play the rebel in the family because remeber everything that goes around come around..... Believe me I am here and I am living it with my son and he reminds me of some of the things I used to hate that my parents tells me now I am telling the same things to him...

Your question didn't ask if they were good or bad role models. I find it interesting that in the majority of answers, most *assumed* you wanted to know if they are a *good* role model. The way I see it is, all parents are role models. Infact everyone is a roll model. Parents, family members, sports hero's, hollywood types...everybody. People either set a good example, or a bad example. It is up to you to chose wether to follow the example they are leading.

My parents are definitely not role models. My father was a retired janitor and my mom was a housewife. My dad thinks that there are still racists people today who would not give me a chance to "rise to the top" and that all Asians have to work in a retail environment which isn't true. There are many Asians who are doctors or whatever they want to be. So, I had to send myself to school, so the answer is a big no.

absolutely yes! thats why i always set a good example for my 13 year old daughter. I dont smoke, drink or do drugs and im nice to others. she follows in my footsteps. being a parent is the most important job in the world and some parents need to take that responsibility seriously.

As much as most people hate to admit it "Yes" your PARENTS are your ROLE MODELS. If they aren't they SHOULD BE.

yes my mother put herself thru school with 4 children and now is a partner at a cpa firm! with all of that, she still made the time to take us kids to the park, the zoo, waterparks, vacation, and everything else we wanted to do she never let anyone tell her she couldn't do it, she just proved them all wrong!

For most people, yes. For me no! My father is a selfish POS and my mother is a lazy POS. I'm grown and the more I think about it, the less good people they are!
