I am having my son's birthday party at an oil ranch. How do I write on the invitation that I will only be paying for the invitee(s) and 1 parent.

Say "Admission fees for invited guests will be paid. If you wish to attend, the fee is $____, at your own expense. Thank you."

Due to the cost of this Birthday Party, this invitation is for
"Child's name and One Parent only"
Others may attend at the following costs.
We look forward to seeing you there.

It's your party just say it like it is.

you could say, in the name section of the invite for example,

dear Oliver & parent ................

and then just below the rsvp part of the invite add an additional note stating that second parent and other siblings are welcome to attend also, but the neccesary entry fees are payable upon entry to the ranch.

had similar problem at my sons party last year....
have fun on the day....

Just like that tell them exactly in the invitation who you will be paying for and not paying for.
