The Sony Bravia XBR 46" LCD is the very best. I have the 40" version, and it is stunning. The picture is crisp and clear, it has full 1080p resolution - HD cable and the XBox 360 look fantastic on it. The Bravia's are a bit pricey, but their specs are top-notch. The TVs themselves are beautiful to look at all by themselves - very sophisticated. It looks great in my living room (I have it on a cabinet from Crate & Barrel).

Don't take anybody words for the best lcd. People have different opinions, go to the store and check them out. I would almost guess what are you going to buy 8-))) A Samsung LCD!!. Sony is overated and over priced, you also should know that Sony use the lcd panel from Samsung. If you don't want to get a Samsung or Sony, get a Panasonic or Sharp Aquos. For a cheaper but still nice lcd, go check out the Vizio,Olevia Syntax or Westinghouse.

I don't know it it comes in 46", but we got a Sony 42" LCD HDTV Grand Wega Engine. It is super. It has the Grand Wega Engine technology, which is an interface to give you good resolution on non HD channels (Digital). We have HD/Digital cable, using a Motorola Cable box, and use a DVI to HDMI cable(Ebay-$56) for it, works better than component cables for HD. Good component cables are pretty good though. This Sony is the best I could find in 2 weeks of looking and researching.
