The excess is paid when ever there is a claim on your policy and you are at fault

You only pay an excess if you are claiming for repairs to your car.

I worked in insurance for 15 years. If theres no damage to yours, the third party will make a claim, and it will affect your no claims (unless you have it protected). But you wont have to shell out the excess, dont worry.

If you have fully comp insurance then you only pay your excess but if you only have third party insurance then you pay both if its your fault. After all if it was your fault you cant expect the other party to pay because you hit them.

All insurance companies have thier own rules check with yours.

Not sure what you're asking, but I'll give it a shot......

If you damage someone else's car, your liability insurance will pay for the damage up to the limit of your policy. If the damage exceeds your limits, then you may have to pay the difference, but your insurance company will advise you.

there's no excess on the other parties claim. However if they are insured comp and their insurers pay out for their damage then their excess will be payable by you/ your insurance.

lozzielaw is correct. You only pay your excess if you claim of your own policy.
