i'm having my outside wedding in june, and it's supposed to be a medieval theme, so most of the people will be wearing warmer clothing. my fiance and i like sunrise, but i'm not a mrning person, and i can't see guests coming for a wedding that early in the morning, and it can get anywhere from 50 to 80 degrees during the day in june where i live, so having it around noon is not really an option. and, sunset isn't until late. so i was wondering wen would be a good time of day to have it. and if we have it aorund dusk, what are some good, effective way to keep mosquitos away? i'm allergic (i get bitten and it swells to like the size of a half dollar...not exactly what i need on my wedding!) and really don't want to be shooing away some dumb bugs all night!! thanks everyone!!

Have it at night. Use citronella oil in the torches, that will help keep the majority of bugs away. Also, sharper image has a "mosquito eater" machine contraption. The jist of how it works is that it emits pure levels of carbon dioxide and creates a sound like a heart (very low, you can't hear) and attracts the mosquitos in, and then they are trapped. It boasts to be able to capture up to 5000 mosquitos with one tank of carbon dioxide. You can also smoke bomb the premises before the wedding, package effectiveness says it works up to 5 hours.

Good luck.

I am getting married in June and am doing a 7:00 wedding, but I am getting married in a church. I wanted to do an outside wedding but I live in South Louisiana and it gets absolutely too hot down here, the rain is unpredictable, and the mosquitos are horrible. When I get bitten I start scratching until I make huge sores on my legs from the raw skin and I don't want to look like that on my honeymoon. That is why I decided on an indoor wedding. And the reason I chose 7 was because the sun would be perfect for some pictures around 4:30 or 5ish to do outside of my reception hall. If anything I would say due to the mosquitos you should have an earlier wedding because they get bad at night. My cousin got married in October and the mosquitos were horrible. In the video all you see is everybody slapping their faces and backs. It's pretty funny. I would say 5 or 6. When I was still undecided I was going to make paperfan programs for the guests so that if it's hot then they could at least fan themselves. And their cute. But yeah 5 or 6 would be perfect. I think 7 may be a little too late with the mosquitos. Good Luck!

anything after 6 PM, for a FORMAL wedding.
Tuxes, Tails, and it will be cooler and more people will attend, because of the evening hours.
Most people do the 6:00 Wedding and start the reception 8-12PM.
If you do an outdoor wedding and get the Cintronella Tiki Torches and decorate them with Ribbon Bows and lilies and do a Tropical Sunset Theme. I have seen this done beautifully with the Luau Reception. I have even seen the Bride and Groom change into Luau attire in the middle of the Ceremony and come out after all the formal festivites are done, with Shorts, Hawiian shirts and Dark Sun Glasses, it livens things up.

Okay - first off it's going to be hot.
So choose early morning or late in the afternoon. Don't do midday or everyone will be sweating, and don't do late at night cause that's when mosquitoes will be out in full force.
Morning is a tough go because all the guys would've been out the previous night and are probably working off a hangover. And all the women will be primping to look good.
Go with early afternoon - it's a perfect setting with the setting sun and all, everyone will be at their best, and the mood will be more 'right' - if you know what I mean.
Besides, nothing is better than driving from the reception into the dusk with the moon coming - the warm breeze flowing with the dress and all.
Ahhhhhhhhh, sends me back to when my wife and I tied the knot. Good luck and have a happy life together.

I'm not a morning person either as well as allergic to mosquitos. Many years ago my cousin had a sunrise wedding, about 45 minutes away, in a field, under a tent, while it rained. Try that with a 2 year old. :(

Evening would be good. It will be warm but not sweltering.
Plan on burning citronella candles. Start them about an hour before the ceremony & you should be bug-free.

You can have the ceremony at 7pm with the reception immediately following, that is if your having them at the same location. When we had a party outdoors we had professionals come and spray the area the day before, it's supposed to last upto seven days. I was still getting bit. We had bug spray, but it was a pain having to spray every part of your body every little while. Try fire torches around the perimitar of the party. Hope this helps.

I am getting married June 8th. My wedding is at 6pm. I wanted to have my wedding in the evening for the ambiance and for an evening of fun. My wedding also falls on a Friday, which is ten times cheaper and plus it doesn't take up a whole Saturday for people. The weekend is still there to be enjoyed! Good Luck!

Why not 5:30? Is it still to bright tht time of day where you live? And 7:00 is not to late. Your are right people still have to eat. If you choose to have it 7 just let people know it will be a late reception.

well the suns at its strongest between 11am and 3 pm, so to avoid any sun burn or people collapsing from heat exhaustion i think 4:00pm would be a beautiful time of day to devote yourself to you loved one!!! then you can have your wedding pics at sunset then dance the night away with your new hubby into the moon light! aww so romantic :)
all the best xXx

I think the ceremony should be at sunset, because it will seem more romantic and the reception at night. And I think they sell a spray that keeps those annoying bugs off.
