Which is better webcam or camcorder?

I plan on making a weekly video for my website and I was wondering which is better a webcam or a digital camcorder. I need to know which is cheaper and which delivers better quality, both sound and image. Also if you used them before, which brand do you recommend.

Apples and oranges. Or plants and animals. A webcam sits in one spot. A camcorder is mobile. A camcorder can be used as a webcam, but that would be a waste of money. A webcam could be used as a camcorder in conjuction with a notebook computer, but the combination would be not be practical. If you want to make videos you need a camcorder.

A camcorder is better, but it will require more work.

Any Digital camcorder will do provided your computer has Firewire and Windows XP and is somewhat fast and has lots of free hard drive space.

You, however, may also have to buy some software to make final productions but you will need to conver the 720x400 AVI files down to 320 x 200 MOV Apple Quick Time or WMV Windows MEdia for web use.

Both items will get you what you want... the question is how much do you want to pay for quality and how much time do you want to put into the project?... the DV camera will be hands down better quality but at the cost of time... takes time to transfer it to a computer... takes time to edit it and compress it to a format you want...

But only you can make the cost/benefit calculation for the technology you want to use. There are a number of reviews on www.epinions.com which will guide you on the decision making trail for both technologies.

There ARE advantages and an argument to be made for going either technology direction.

in my opinion, a digital camcorder will serve you a lot more effective contained in the destiny. Webcams merely have not kept up with technologies contained in the way of video high quality. purchase the acceptable you may have adequate money. you'd be dissatisfied contained in the more reasonable fashions. shop up until eventually you may have adequate money to purchase what's going to acceptable meet your desires.
