Why were they left out and why do you think. I think the movie Dogma had it right. It was such a blow to a child that he couldn't deal for so long.

To the person who asked if i knew that Dogma was just a movie,I do realize that. But it does make you ask questions.

For the person saying Dogma is just a movie, that is true, but the biblical references (ALL of them) were true.
As for the question at hand, if we knew everything there was to know about Jesus, there would be nothing for our faith to feed upon. That is why his life is such a mystery, God tells us we need to have faith. True, telling about his life from when he found out he was God's son until he began preaching would more than likely give us a better understanding about him, but I'm sure there are gospels that haven't been found yet that hold that very mystery.

Just as Mark Twain didn't write down every day in the life of Tom Sawyer nor did Hemingway include details from the childhood of the old fisherman in "The Old Man and the Sea," so too the authors of the New Testament didn't feel a need to include any stories about the adolescent Jesus. It's just a story. There is no valid evidence at this time to demonstrate that Jesus was an actual historical figure.

Use your mind. THINK. It is the single most important thing that the religious authorities in your life DON'T want you to do. As you develop your skills at rational thinking, you will see through all archaic religous dogma and myth that so many people in your life up until now have demanded you swallow whole and without question.

Because the people who wrote the Gospel didn't know Jesus until He was an adult man.

I hope you don't really believe that the movie Dogma is true. It's a good movie, but it's clearly meant to be for entertainment only and not taken literally.

Nothing "happened to them". They are simple not recorded int he scriptures because they are unimportant to the plan of salvation.

Luke and Matthew record the birth of Jesus because it was important to undertand his linage (Matthew gives the legal line through Josephus, Luke the bloodline through Mary). It order for Jesus to the Savior and the Messiah, he had to be born in a certain way.

Luke records the events of Jesus at the age of 12 because in Jewish laws a child was required to declare his intend to follow in his father's business at the age of 12 so he could enter apprenticeship in the business. So at 12 Jesus declared he had to be about his Father's business.

Nothing further is mentioned until age 30 because under the Old Testament law, a man could not become a priest and minister until he was 30 years of age. So Jesus did not being his ministry until he had reached that age.

Nothing that he did between 12 and 30 was important in the plan of salvation, so it is not details. The Bible does, however, tell us exactly what happened during that time. Luke 2:52 - "And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man."

At the age of 12 He did preach in the Temple and he blew the minds of the Priests. As a matter of fact he was forgotten by his parents there because they use to travel in huge families. Next we learn is when He comes to John The Baptiste and once baptized the glory of God comes upon Him, His favor, and doves are seen. Read the Bible it's a truly incredible read.

Not covered in the bible, personally I think He was off doing and "learning the hard way" the same wrong, temptation stuff the rest of us do - so He could later identify with us and understand what humans go through in life - and the writers of the bible just didn't include it because they (back then) didn't consider it "Godly behavior".

He just led the typical life of a poor Galilean boy, at least as much as was possible for someone like Him.

Remember that his own people in Galilee saw nothing special about Him -- He was no miracle boy to them:

54Coming to his hometown, he began teaching the people in their synagogue, and they were amazed. "Where did this man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?" they asked. 55"Isn't this the carpenter's son? Isn't his mother's name Mary, and aren't his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas? 56Aren't all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all these things?" [Matt 13:54-56, NIV]

That's a very good question. I don't exactly why they were left out but I do know this. With the amount of information in the bible about Jesus' time on earth, we have more than enough word to believe in Him. God bless you in Jesus' name.
