What are the best ways you can think of to help the families in my area who where effected by the explosion at the Little General. There are many short term ideas, but do you have any long term humanitarian ideas to assist these families? Those yet surviving are going to have a long term recovery, and have families at home.
Serious answers only as this is a very serious issue.
Little General exploded due to believed propane tank leak, confirmed dead 4, others critically injured. (Last report)Ghent Fire Chief was among those confirmed dead and funeral was Sunday. Little General is completely gone. Explosion felt over 1 mile away, heard over 2 miles away. Looking for long term help ideas for the families of those affected. This has devestated our community and we are looking for as many ways to help as possible.

health care professionals could volunteer time to talk to the people ,council, and console to help them pschologically. that had to be a awful experience. especially those closest to blast. it may not help too much, but every sunday churches can have people carry in food to help feed neighbors. those with carpentry ability/skills can go in closer to blast area and help people repair houses and businesses. pople can help clean up debris.
god bless you and all the good people of ghent

Care for the injured. Bury the dead. Collect what you can for the survivors. Then move on and keep looking forward with hope.

I agree with the previous answer, also the community can only do so much, long term help needs to come from the government. God bless you all.
