Does he care what your hands are doing? Does he prefer that you be looking up at him or have your eyes closed?

I know the Bible speaks about confessing your sins with your mouth but is there an appropriate way to put your hands while you do it? Should they be together in front of you or down by your sides? Should your eyes be closed when you pray or open?

He prefers mouth and hands be used in a coordinated manner. It is much more satisfying for him.

When you read through the Bible, you will find that it records people praying while kneeling, sitting, standing, laying on their face, laying in bed, hiding under a tree, and more. They are recorded as having their hands folded, raised, chained, hanging, etc. No one physical position is listed as the "correct" way to pray. You can not it from whatever position you need. ("My car is sliding on the ice and about to go over a cliff - I would pray, but I can't kneel, close my eyes, and fold my hands...")

What does matter is the "position" of the heart. If you look at the model prayer Jesus gave us, he shows the attidutes needed. You come recognzing he is God. You come seeking his kingdom and will. You ask for his daily supply. You keep yourself clear of sin within and temptation without. You praise him for who and what he is. Prayer begins and ends with its focus on God.

Traditionally, hands are folded and eyes are closed in prayer. This is to avoide distractuions from focusing on communicating with God. If your hands are busy doing something, then you may not be totally focussed on God. The same goes for eyes closed.

In the Torah it says exactly how to pray. You should read the entire book of Deuteronomy.

It is not the outside things that he judges....it is the thing's of your heart....I think you are worrying too much about things that do not matter. After looking back at all your questions regarding religion....I see now that your question wasn't meant to be serious....as I said earlier...it is the heart that comes under judgement....

I believe all he cares about is what is in your heart. It doesn't matter what you are doing with your hands, your feet your mouth or anything else for that matter. It is the attitude of your heart that matters.

I wouldn't be on my knees for anything. If I choose to talk to "God" I'll do it proud standing on my feet and looking him straight in the eyes.

People have killed each other by the thousands over these precise questions.

I think the only proper answer is that God doesn't give a ****.

Doesn't matter. Either way you're just talking to yourself.
