My wife holds me to a different standard then she does her friends. I am supposed to be her best friend but if she treated me like her friends and relatives she would not have any. She treats me worse then a poor relative.

It is different for every person. Some people are more aggressive and self-centered than others.

I think you and your wife should go to counseling to address these issues because obviously she is not listening to you and doesn't respect you. You need to do something about it because obviously complaining about it isn't working. If you don't do something about it, she will continue to treat you poorly for the rest of your life because you put up with it.

As long as there are different genders in the world, there will be different standards. It's a fact of life and it's not something that's going to be changed anytime in our lifetimes or even our grandchildrens' lifetimes. For example, I originally thought that this question was going to be about the double standard where men get praised for having a lot of sexual partners and women are put down for it.

Anyways, if you want to fix your problem, I think you should approach your wife and tell her exactly what you've said here. If she's not going to listen to what you have to say, explain how awfully she's been treating you while you've been trying to be her "best friend" as you've said.

I don't know how you figured that this question fitted in under the "Dental" category.

It seems that you might want to sit down with her and discuss this. She may be unconsciously taking you for granted.

You need to grow a set and take control back off of her. It's unnatural for a woman to control a relationship.
