In 1611 the religious leades in and around England got together and asked King James of England to commission an English translation of the Bible.
In those days, Shakespeare was very popular. So, I would imagine that he and his poetry and plays were influencial in regards to the tone and manner of speech in the Bible. Examples: thou, thine, ye, believeth, thee, etcetera.

King James had scholars translate the Bible into English for the Church of England in 1611, I think it was... That version is still in print complete with the letter from the scholars.

King James commissioned it. It is based, in large part, on Tyndale's earlier translation and the Geneva bible. One difference between the KJV and the Geneva is the removal of many annotations which, in the Geneva bible, were extremely Calvinist.

It is an accepted version ordered by KJ to be translated into the language of the day (16th century english)
Attempting to keep their heads, those writers followed his orders and made it acceptable to him.
Many errors are directly attributable to fear of loss of ones head.
Jesus never spoke in 16th century English, and there are better and more easily understood versions available today. See our translation for free.
The Gootenburg bible done on the first printing press became the most popular for a while since it could be mass produced. (German)
Note:
The Catholic church for centuries banned reading of the bible because they wanted the priests to control the people.
The more knowledge they got, the harder to control....
