The key in undertaking any job shift, is to embrace change. The person entering a new sphere of work should realize that what worked in his or her previous job would not work any more. The rules of the game might be different and the work cultures could be different too.

Any person who recognizes this fact before taking the plunge in a new industry would not suffer. The person should be willing to allocate his time differently, understand the requirements and adapt to them and even bring about a change in his internal value system.

People in their mid careers can find it difficult to discard their way which has brought them success so far, knowing little that what contributed to their success previously could lead to their downfall now.
