It could be a sprain or pulled muscle. The only way to know for sure is to take the dog to the vet. Let this be a lesson to you to not wrestle so hard with a dog.

A boy? How old...? Was it a total accident? Do you know him? If he's a nice, young boy and it was an accident/he wasn't doing anything wrong, then mention it to his parents and try to have them pay some. In this scenario, if you get all up in the parents face, you're going to look like a real jerk. (and you will be too) I know you're probably angry, but your puppy is small, and they get underfoot. It happens often and I'm sure the kid feels awful and said sorry. If it was an older boy (High school...?) you don't know him, you think he was being reckless, then sure! Go right on ahead! Take it up with the parents and have them pay. BTW If the kid is in elementary school or so, then it's partly your fault for not keeping a better eye on your small, expensive, young puppy. You should have made the rules to clear to him right off the bat and stepped in if you saw anything wrong.

It's probably a sprain, since the dog could put weight on it without crying soon after the accident. But yes, she should be taken to the vet for treatment. And next time be more careful about the wrestling.

Good luck!

Take him/her to the vet. It's much better to catch the break early. If it starts to heal, it may not heal properly and can result in enormous vet bills - even amputation in some cases.

I'm not quite sure if this is your dog you are talking about, as you mention the dogs owner.

If this is not your dog that you were playing with, you may be responsible for the vet bills.

I'm not trying to make u feel bad, but.....I suggest you take the dog to the vet, if his leg is not broken, but he cant walk on it, he must be injured, the least you could do for him is to take him to the vet since technically you were playing rough with him. Is it your dog?Remember your if it is your dog, he depends on you he cant take himself to the vet :(... If he is not, then you should help out with the vet bills.

Your friend should take the dog to the vet immediately for an x-ray. It sounds like, if not a fracture, there is definitely something wrong.
