Why are you so sure you know the path to heaven? Are you so sure of yourself that you can be conceited and rude, preachy and arrogant?

Thank you for the warning, duly noted.

If you would like a truthful answer and aren't just preaching, here you go.

I don't believe in hell, because the Bible professes that God is a God of love. If that is the truth, then why would be set aside a place that will eternally burn his followers friends and family. Doesn't seem very loving. If there is a Hell, then God is not a God of Love, therefore the Bible is not True. If there is no Hell, then once again the Bible is not True. Its a paradox.

The other thing that worries me about your view on heaven, is the professed population. It has been my experience in many different churches and denominations, that most Christians are mean spirited and more interested in other people's shortcomings, rather than really concerned for their eternal existence. Getting scared into going to church doesn't last. After a while one gets alienated and shunned for asking hard questions. Very unChristlike behaviors. That has been my experience, churches are really country clubs with steeples now. There are very few that actually help starving, drug riddled, helpless people. If those types of people were to show up on 90% of churches today, they would be ridiculed and alienated.

That is the honest truth, and I think if you take an honest look at your congregation, you will know exactly what I am talking about.

A better question might be, If you have been talking about Christianity for years and condemning people to hell through your lack of love and understanding, are you going to be surprised when you are sitting next to me in the lake of fire?

I've always believed that people are more ready to accept that there is a devil (and therefore that hell exists) than they are to accept God

many of us do assume that there's an afterlife just as we assume that we are good and therefore we will get into heaven 'if it exists' by virtue of that assumption

I'm not sure what would be worth burning in hell for but it's certainly not that especially when all you've got to do is something that most of us already do all the time: think everytime before you act.

Since human history began people may have believed in afterlife, but not necessarily in the bible and a single god. And not necessarily in the way Christianity does.

There was shamanism, magick and ancestor-based religions a lot earlier than Christianity.(point #1) A lot of people who believed in that never even got a chance to see your precious bible. If there is God and He is One and He is loving, he would not let those people go to hell for nothing.(point #2) Thus, when the Judgment Day comes (I doubt it, however) we will be judged by our deeds. (point #3) I am not an expert in our precious "handbook for living," so I wouldn't know for sure, but I think there is a spot somewhere in there that says that the ones who did/do not believe will be judged by comperison of their good deeds vs. their bad ones. (point #4)

If it is a "handbook for living" why don't you listen to it? It says that each of us must come to God on their own - so don't force your religion on others.(point #5) Moreover, who are you so smart to badmouth others? Love others like you love yourself and do not badmouth people you do not even know.(point #6)

jan - way to go! I really like your answer. =) Some others as well.

Be very careful what you teach about hell. The manuscripts do not describe it as a place where bad old uncle joe burns and screams in pain, while frying like bacon, while the rest of us enjoy heaven. Its not written.
Hell will be the act of blotting out of existance those who do not make it. However, when Christ returns, there will be a 1000 year period of teaching and disipline. Nobody will go to hell before having the opportunity to learn the truth.
Do not try to scare people into faith. God does not want that. Esspecially not to scare people with the idea of fire and hell. In Scripture, that is called molech practice, and God hates it.
Gods children will hear his voice and follow him. If someone does not, it may very well be that the person is from a different "father". Have the faith to know that God is in control, and that His plan is working right now, today, perfectly.

What will you do when you die and you find out that there is no after life so to speak. What if your spirit just becomes like a ghost and you find yourself walking around watching the living live. Maybe that is why we have poltergeist activity because people like you find out there are no golden gates and get mad causing them to strike out at the living. Or maybe God is going to look down on you and say sorry i didn't want a robot who hinged on my every word i wanted someone who could live and create and not fear me. Maybe he will say i don't want you your not my type. Think about what you are doing with your life and your belief if God wanted more mindless worshipers who grovel on the ground before him he would have just made more Angels. Be more than just another book mark and mindless follower be someone God can actually talk too. Ask question of God and dont stop until your dead.

Do a little research. It's not just denial based on 'I don't want...' Some denial is based on fact. Other 'Hell's' mentioned in previous and other religious philosophies are just places for the dead (and eventually, that includes everyone) and go by other names, such as 'Hades' or, according to the Old Testament, 'Sheol'. There is no Hell in the Old Testament that is the place described in the New Testament. It's one of the very few original concepts of Christianity. Gee-what a tribute.

Unless Christianity is wrong, which is the most likely option, for because of its own complexity, it has about the least chance of any authenticity due to contradictions and IMPOSSIBILITIES, and another religion is right. Have fun in Hell.

As you believe that there is a hell - I believe that there is not one - not one of fire and brimstone anyhow.I believe that to spend eternity here on earth would be hell. Fighting the daily battles for ever and ever with no end in site would truly be hell and what I believe will be hell in the afterlife.

If you believe in God, Jesus and Heaven all your life and at the moment of your death finally realize that it is all a myth, will you say your whole life was a waste of time that could have been spent educating yourself about how the Universe really works.
