Going to Paris in a few weeks. Anyone have any information to pass along? Places you've gone and shouldn't be missed? Things that weren't as awesome as you thought they'd be?

Mexico Traveler asked why specify that I'm gay. (Nobody get bent out of shape - it wasn't asked rudely.) It's really a case of "if you were you'd understand," but let me give it a shot.

Yes, I'm interested in knowing about the clubs and bars. While that is not the intent of my trip, I am interested in going out at least a couple nights and would like to hear from others like me where they've enjoyed going.

Also, there might be places of particular interest to a gay traveler that a non-gay traveler wouldn't feel was noteworthy. It never hurts to ask.

And finally, unfortunately - and I know this isn't an issue in Paris - there are some parts of some cities that a gay person should avoid at all costs.

It's kinda funny that you would ask me this. The reason that I specified "gay" is that most of my friends are straight, so most of the travel advice I got was the general tourist stuff. I posted the question because I wanted the specific gay experience.

Thanks for asking!

Paris is very gay friendly city.

The center of Gay life is in the historic heart of the town called Le Marais in the 4th arrondissement but Gays are generally welcome everywhere.

Walk down any of the following streets in the Marais, rue Ste-Croix-de-la-Bretonnerie, rue des Archives, rue Vieille du Temple and you will immediately recognize friendly territory. The Open Cafe on the corner of rue St Croix Bretonnerie and rue des Archives, has almost become an institution as the axis of the Marais life.

One thing that most gay visitors immediately notice about the Paris scene, is that it's largely dominated by a crowd of trendy young, buffed bunnies, typically many with shaven heads (cran rase).

this website will tell you want you need to know:http://www.parismarais.com/gay-paris-le-marais.htm

If you can read French you may find this site useful:http://citegay.fr/

NB: Amusingly, the original Gay venues were found on Rue des Mauvais Garcons...the street of naughty boys. (the name actually dates from the 16th century.) Have your picture taken in front of a street sign bearing the name.

NB2:Go to Pierre Lachaise cemetery and pay homage to Edith Piaf, the French equivalent of Judy Garland.

NB3: A bar you might enjoy:

Bar du Palmier
16, rue des Lombards

Metro:Châtelet/Les Halles

What is the importance of saying you are a gay traveler? Unless you only want gay themed places. Being gay doesn't mean you like more gay themed places, does it?

I am sorry, it just seems strange that unless you want to know the bars and discos and spots when the men hang out that saying your gay is not necessary. But then again I could be completely wrong.

Your question maybe should be asked without saying you are gay and then again mentioning it and comparing the different results. That way you have a diverse aspect to your question.

I have never been and I would want to know both sides. Both straight and gay.

I hope you have Fun and Enjoy. Good Luck!

Have lotsa fun-Also i was told to try to be one of the last people at night going up the Eiffle Tower cause When it lights up when its dark out and your in it I've heard its the best thing ever!

I am not gay so i can not give "good adresses" but i live in Paris and if you go in the district "le marais" you will found what you want. Stop at the subway station "hotel de ville" or "Saint Paul". This district is the gay area of Paris and it is very nice.

I flow to the Greek island of Mykonos and San Francisco maximum years, and love the two places. i've got been to Sydney some cases, and it is super. otherwise, my gay neighbour and pals love Sitges, on the component of Barcelona in Spain. Barcelona, a 30 minute prepare holiday, is likewise an stunning city, and has various gay interest. Gran Canaria, between the Spanish Canary Islands, is likewise a mecca for many gay travelers, and that i've got somewhat enjoyed myself there, surprisingly for the duration of the iciness time, while it enjoys a heat sunny climate. it is customarily a social gathering island, nevertheless you will have fun with the rest, in case you seek for it out. Amsterdam is a funky, tolerant place, someplace that I used to stay, and think of of as abode. anybody might desire to flow, not in basic terms us gay human beings, as that's a solid eye-opener, various bars/golf equipment - it even has the 'homo monument'. otherwise, contained in america, Palm Springs is warm and has various gay lodges, bars and so on. For sort, i could advise San Francisco or Sydney (it is iciness there only now). For splendor, tranquility and the Greek summer season social gathering spirit, i could advise Mykonos. once you are going to Europe, attempt to squeeze in Amsterdam and Mykonos a minimum of. i'm only reserving Mykonos and San Francisco for July/August, so might desire to even see you around. desire this facilitates. solid success, and luxuriate on your holiday!
