I need to make guacamole for tonight but my avocados are still rock hard! Would it be safe (as in okay for the stomach) if they were eaten unripe? Would it be okay to mush them up with a mixer so i can make my guacamole?
Any suggestions will be appreciated! Thanks

You can try this, but it might not work if they are rock hard. Place them in a PAPER bag with a couple of apples. Apples emit a certain gas that really ripens fruits up quickly. Try them an hour or so befor eyou need them and if they are still rock hard, you'll have to make a run to the store to find some ripened ones. I find that Wal-mart and stop and shop have hard fruits while Big Y has ripe delish fruit- you'll just have to check different grocery stores. They won't hurt you if you eat them that way, but your mouth won't appreciate it- it'll be bitter and not very tastey.

Good luck!!

Avocado Upset Stomach

It's pretty hopeless, I'm afraid. I've been impatient and I've tried all of the quick-fix suggestions people have made, and none of them work. Microwaving it just cooks the avocado, which makes it nasty -- same for boiling it. Putting it in the food processor to try to blend in into a puree just left me with lots of tiny, hard, tasteless bits of avocado. Wait a couple days for your guacamole -- you'll be much happier than if you waste an avocado by making bad guacamole. The suggestions for ripening it faster are good ones -- especially putting it in a brown paper bag or leaving it near apples.

No.An unripe avocado is an unripe avocado no matter what you do with it and if its rock hard now it wont be any good for tonight.

I think that you may have to go to the store cause I dont think they will hurt you stomach but the taste is not so good. if that is not an option, try to cut the avacado in to a food processor with the other ingredients & see if that will work & be sure to try the paper bag first

Even if you manage to swash the lil sukers they wont tast good unripe. i'd take a trip to the store & get riper ones. Give them a little squeeze to make sure they are not rock hard.

Yes can eat like that, but put in a bag now with a real ripe banana, this will speed up ripening process. Good Luck!
