Henry the 8th was mad at the Pope because he wouldn't let the king divorce Catherine his legal wife and marry Anne. So Henry thought he was king he might as well start his own religion and that way he could do the divorce. He made everyone in his staff convert and if they did not, like Thomas Becket, he was killed. Thenhis staff ordered that nobody could be Catholic anymore the lands were seized, many beautiful Churches were destroyed and many people fled to France for safety.

The king got mad at the pope cause he wanted a divorce so he could have a younger wife.
The pope said that this was not a legitimate reason to dump his old wife do the king confiscated all of the churches property in England and started a version of the religion that would allow him to get a divorce.

The king wanted to get a divorce and the Catholic Church told him that divorce was wrong.
So he did what all self serving people in power do. He changed the rules.

That is the result of Henry the VIII dclaring himself the head of the Church in England. He wanted to divorce from his wife who did not give him a son and the Pope would not grant him an annulment.

I beleive it was Henry VIII that broke away from the Catholic church and formed the Protestant faith, so that he could divorce his wife and re-marry.

I believe it was because king henry VIII wanted to divorce one of his wives. Divorce was against the catholic religion, so king henry started another sect and proclaimed himself the leader.

henry VIII wanted to divorce cathrine of argon, but that is not cool in the catholic church. so henry made up his own church, the curch of england. and then he married anne bolyn.
