Being a member of the church is what Christians do. You are a struggling sinner, and I would think that you would want the fellowship of other struggling sinners that celebrate the risen Lord and listen to preaching that encourages you can assist you with your Christian life.
I'm not a member of the church that I attend, I love the people and the worship services themselves, but I don't adhere to the specific doctrine that the church teaches. However, I also get an opportunity to learn what they believe and perhaps ask some questions that make them think a little.

In my church, only if you're a member can you vote in the church general meetings that happen once a year. It's not a requirement for being a Christian. It might help if you are doing anything in your church like teaching. I taught a girls group in my church and it was required to be a member for that.

Most churches require membership for those who are filling positions within the church. If you never plan on serving in any capacity in the church, then there is probably no reason for you to become a member. But this opens up a new problem. Why are you content to not serve the Lord in some capacity. God has called us to a life of service. Going to church on Sunday, singing songs, listening to preaching, is not serving God. That is equipping you to be able to serve God. How you worship God on Sunday is a reflection of your relationship with Him but it is NOT your relationship with Him.

As long as you are attending church I do not see why you have to become a member. My husband and I accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior and was baptized but was given the option of becoming a member at our church. Who is telling you that you are wrong?

I don't feel that you necessarily have to become a member of a church. As long as you are born again and serving and worshipping God, I don't think He cares if you are a member. It is not the church that gets you to Heaven. Only God can do that.

We are the church, the temple of the Holy Spirit, and it is important if you care about your salvation and the one of your family. The church itself is a place where God gather his children to talk to feed them. Through listening we receive faith, and with faith life has a meaning. We as humans have a body and a soul, our body feeds with food or a meal, while the soul needs spiritual food, which is the word of God, and to do God's will. Jesus Himself said: "my food is a meal that you don't know, and it is to do the will of the One who send me". I am happy with my church and with the word of God I receive twice a week. Sometimes is a struggle but life is a constant struggle and before I really enter in the church, my life was pointless, so now I am grateful to God for letting me be part of His church.

The Almighty YHVH created this world very good. Once man sinned, he could no longer meet the requirements of YHVH. Because of His great love for man, He sent His son the Savior. The Savior's name means YHVH is my Savior!--YAHOSHUA! The only way one can have his sins taken care of is to invite the Savior in to carry them. If a person chooses to remain attached to their sins, they will be consumed in the cleansing fire the Almighty will send to cleanse this world so He can make it new! How could the Almighty be more generous? Can you find a "Church" that teaches truth? If you can't you maybe shouldn't go. The Almighty said we were to come out of "Babylon" confusion.

Well, thats a personal choice. I've studied in the manuscripts for over 35 years now, and I belong to no church at all.

I do not pesonally agree with church membership. It makes it sound like a country club. The Bible says that Christians should be part of the body of Christ, but it does not say that you have to have a "membership."
