for most normal guys, they're worried that she'll get weirded out and the friendship becomes awkward. for some really good players, they're just messing with your emotions and mind.. :)

The biggest reason is fear of rejection. There is nothing worse than gathering up the courage to admit to someone how you really feel & be turned down or worse made to look like a complete fool.
Coming on too strong often results in an awkward situation for both, especially if you see her often. If you tell a girl straight up how you feel, most get scared off. You need to build trust & confidence first, besides most probably mistake a genuine admission of feelings for a pick up line; contrary to popular belief not all guys are interested in just sex.
