This might be a allergic reaction that the both of you are exposed too. Go to this link http://www.skincarephysicians.com/eczemanet/treatment.html
this will help better explain the different flair ups and I might sudjest you both going to a dermatologist. In the mean time benaral, oatmeal bathes, ice ...might help the itching. You need to get it checked out because some of the skin might get infected from you all itching...then you have to go to hospital and get admitted for antibiotics. Endless cycle I know but, keep your chins up....

My little boy had eczema on his cheeks. I was not sure what method to use but I didn't want to make my boy go through any surgery treatments at this young age. Some suggested a plastic surgeon since it was in a very visible location but our family doctor recommend this natural guide.

Maybe you are showering too much. When you shower don't use extremely hot water because that is very drying too. My eczema flares up when I use laundry detergent with perfume and dye in it. For that reason I only use dye and perfume free detergent. I also react very badly to dryer sheets. I rinse my clothes twice. Did you change your detergent at all? Maybe get a humidifier where you live. It is very dry here in Minnesota during the winter and that helps out a lot. I also only use Dove soap in the shower. My dermatologist told me it the gentlest soap. Surprisingly he said the Ivory is pretty harsh. Whenever I use anything scented I start breaking out.

My 7 year old son suffers with extreme flare ups of eczema and I was never away from our GP about this and tried every lotion going all to no avail. After yet another flare up I took my son to see our GP bit we were seen by a rather elderly Locum, who advised me that decades ago eczema was not around as much as it is now.
He went on to explain that people didn,t bathe quite as much in those days and advised me to obviously keep my son clean but not to bathe him every night as I had been doing but to bathe him every 3rd night. The reason for this was soap and water can aggravate eczema.
I was very sceptical about this but decided to give it a go.
Though His eczema is by no means cured it has improved a great deal so maybe it would be worth you giving it a try. Good luck!

I to suffer from eczema, especially in the winter. What works for me is a triamcinolone cream 0.1% which you need a prescription for and I take a generic Claritin everyday.
You might also see and allergist and see if you have any major allergys. For myself, I'm very allergic to dust mites (very common allergy) so I got dust mite proof pillow cases and matress cover. All of these measures really helped me. I still get it occasionally, but not nearly as bad.
You might also think about a HEPA filter in the bedroom.
Hope this helps.

Hi
Have you used any washing products which you have not used before. for body or clothing, as you could have an allergic reaction to them. I used a certain brand of soap powder, and changed to a new biological colour variety, and every member of the family suddenly became afflicted with small rashes over the body. (8 members in all). Wrote to firm and they actualy asked us if we wanted to see their determalogists. Also saw our own GP and we went back to our usual products, and within 2 weeks it had dissapeared from family. But we had to be tested for tineas etc. If you still have problems, granson suffers eczema, and keeps it at bay with beleive it or not, a pop sock with a handful of poridge oats in and soak, squeezing the juice over the inflamed areas in the bath, or shower. Then apply the exczema creame.

Possible causes: Perfume, Fabric Softener, Different Food from usual, Different Soap, Different bathroom cleaner, Different Washing powder or liquid, Bio washing liquid vs Non Bio, New pet in the household. I would bet that it's a new household chemical of some sort - maybe one of the above but there are plenty of others that it may be. Just try to reduce the chemicals and cleaners you use.

For me,changes in the weather, product ingredients and dietary triggers can be the cause.
My dermatologist always told me not to take a bunch of showers because it can dry the skin out.
Sometimes pet dander can be a trigger too. If you or your neighbors happen to have recently adopted a pet.
Eczema is one of those things that I have grown to accept that there is no real cure for. Its just a condition that I have to cope with.

I had dry, itchy skin and believe it or not applying cider vinegar once a day(I do it at bedtime) has helped tons. My skin is more normal now that it ever was with all of the fancy prescription medicine!

Have you changed washing powder or washing liquid recently? I've heard that that can sometimes cause irritation to the skin.
