This is trickery of Satan, trying to deflect your prayer to God. Satan is telling you that you should have something to pray to that you can see, feel, and touch. He did this to God's people centuries ago, when Moses was trying to lead them, and they made all of their jewelry into a golden cow.
Block Satan the best you can and continue with your prayer. Study God's word more and talk to other Christians. Get involved in a good study group. If you get involved in one who makes fun of you because of what you share, then find a different one and keep searching until you find a good one.
Pray to God to block the thoughts that Satan tried to put in your mind when you pray. I will be praying for you also.
The more you resist this temptation of Satan, he will begin to flee from you. But you have to do your part and study God's word.

First I ask God to show me any unconfessed sin in my life. I keep silent and keep my mind open. If a sin comes to me, I ask God to forgive me and clear the way for God to hear my prayer. Sometimes I don't know what or how to pray and I tell God that. I pray that the Holy Spirit would guide me in the way that I should pray. Sometimes there is silence and a verse will come to me or a person will come to my mind and I will pray for them. Sometimes I feel that God is so close I could touch him and it is at those times the tears start to flow. Other times I write down specific requests that I need to pray about, I also write when those requests have been answered. We separate ourselves from God when we have unconfessed sin in our lives, we need to clear the pathway to God every time we pray. Remember that when we pray, we shouldn't say the same thing over and over again. Sometimes we need to just let God do the talking and be quiet.
Another thing I have done in the warm summer months is prayer walking. I begin with a little warm up. Then I walk, talking to God out loud and silently (in front of people). I pray for people I see and I thank God for the beauty around me. It is a wonderful way to start your day.
Blessings

I know it is hard to pray to someone or something you cannot see. But that is exactly why it is so, because if you have some kind of image that you pray to you are an idolator which means you direct your prayers to something. God is alive although He has no physical body He is all around you. You cannot pinpoint God as he is Spirit. So when you pray, direct your thoughts not upwards into the heavens but inwards into your spirit because that is where God resides. According to the Bilble he becomes part of you when you turn to God and accept Jesus as your Saviour. He then comes and lives within you. Hard to understand I know but there is where faith comes to play you must believe what you cannot see.... that is faith.

Believe it or not, prayer is not an easy thing for anybody-not even your pastor. Some people sound good when they do it, but the real prayer is the one coming from your heart and in words you would use if God was sitting in front of you. There are some good ideas listed, try them out. Just remember, faith is a hard thing to learn or even use, but it's there, otherwise you wouldn't have taken the leap to believe who you are. Thing to think of about God being invisible, is a light switch-you know you can touch it and turn it on and know the light will shine, but your using faith that it will turn on-same thing. You choose to do it. Best of luck.

Stop thinking of God as someone. This will help a lot.
God is not a big Judgmental, punishing white guy that lives on a far off cloud called heaven.
Jesus told us that the kingdom of the father was within each of us.
This is where your prayers need to be directed.
God is a lot closer that religion has been telling you unless of course you think that they are right and Jesus is wrong?
Love and blessings Don

The Bible says if you draw closer to God He will draw closer to you.
Don't be too much in awe. There is a story in The Bible encouraging us to lobby hard for what we need. It is no good praying for a gambling win or better weather, you will not be heard. But you will get a helping hand in your attempts to obey His will. The Bible also says that no believer will be tried more than they can bear. But remember the solution is not always what or when you expect and occasionally what you want may not in His eyes be for the best. We all get spiritually cold at times, just calmly work your way through it.

God has a personality, he is a person. he is not a physical person but he has feelings, and he knows what you are dealing with. When you pray picture him there with you, all around you, and know that he understands your difficulty with prayer, and he also is pleased that you have faith enough to pray to him at all, and that you atre brave enough to ask for help. James 4:8 says draw close to Jehovah and he will draw close to you. Read your Bible daily and get to know him, the way he deals with his imperfect children and how much he loves you, and prayer will begin to come easy for you. He knows what you need more than you do, so even when you dont know what to say, he reads your heart and listens to you.
The Bible gives us guidelines on how to pray, feel free to check out the site below to see what the Bible says about prayer.
Take care and e-mail me anytime you have a question.

Try using a picture of Christ. Or close your eyes, that's why we do it, to stay focused. And you are not talking to your self. That's why we call it faith! Find a quiet place were you can concentrate with out distractions. Sometimes God just likes a good conversation! Prayer does not always have to be in traditional form. Hold tight to your faith and God bless you! And I will add you to my prayers.

Usually when you forget about yourself and concentrate on Him and worship Him, the presence of God will manifest. It's not something you can make happen, it's something that the Holy Spirit will do when He wants us to know that we are indeed praying or worshiping God with all of our hearts. It's like going to the throne room of God. You know you are there when you feel His awesome presence.

just because you cannot see something, it doesnt mean you cant believe in it. faith is all about believing in something that means a lot to you, so the fact you cant see god when you pray shouldnt matter. why not keep a cross or a picture of god, that way you are physically able to direct your prayers and thoughts to him.
