My friend recently got into an accident and totaled his car (costs 6000+ to fix his used car that was bought for 5000).

He isn't really sure what to do now. He is an international student from Korea and is seeking for a car to drive with.

The problem is, he is only staying here for about 7 months from now.

Any ideas or good sources for used cars?

Was he at fault in the accident? If not, the insurance of the person at fault should pay for his losses.

If he was at fault, did he have collision coverage? If so his insurance will pay for his losses less the deductible if any.

If either of the above is true, take the money and buy another used car. If not he will have to get something to drive for 7 months whatever way he can. It won't just fall out of the sky and magically appear of course.

Go to http://www.autotrader.com and narrow your search down by zip code using the key words "Private Seller" as part of the search criteria.

OR...

Look in the Sunday paper for good deals.

Short of that, there isn't much a guy can do. Sometimes sh*t happens and you have to make the best of it.
