If you're a believer in man-made global warming, what levels of proof would you have to see to change your mind?

I would think that the fact that snow fell in Phoenix just a few weeks ago - and that it is about 25 below zero in the Chicago area should prove that there is not global warming.

I don't believe its man-made. I believe it is correlated to sun activity rather than human activity.
But I am curious what each person that believes in man made global warming is doing about it. Planting trees? Buying flex fuel vehicles? Selling the gas guzzlers? Recycling? Installing solar heating?

"In the 70's, in the wake of the atmospheric cooling experienced between 1945-1947 and 1972, there was a passing fad of 'global' cooling, supposedly buttressed by study of the fossil record and ice samples, which had 'established' the existence of cycles of minor ice-ages (see reference to the Milankovich model below). At that time, the fear was that the earth was just turning the corner into a new ice-age. Any notion of global warming was strictly anathema. Instead, it was argued that man-made contributions would aggravate this cooling by the production of carbon and sulphur aerosols. As Richard Lindzen points out [1], some of the best-selling authors of this rubbish, like Stephen Schneider and Crispin Tickell, have now, not so surprisingly, moved on to become apologists of the 'global warming' hysteria. I definitely am not of the opinion that man is causing any kind of global warming. I would have to be shown actual objective scientific evidence, showing the chain of evidence, that anything man does is actually causing global warming. I know Al Gore, he's a very smart man, but he's an idiot and he's promoting the global warming lie because there are enough suckers out there that will fall for his baloney and support the Demonrats.

I have never believed in man-made global warming. Never will. El Nino winters tend to be more moderate. Have you noticed that since there is now record cold the Al Gore nature-Nazi types are strangely quiet? Besides, with all the pollution controls that American business have to abide by, we aren't the ones who are the problem. It's the rest of the world. It's just that Americ is an easy target. I'd like to see Environmentalists go to other countries and protest THEIR pollution. They would be on the next plane out of there.

Well, about twenty years ago, the scientific wackos were claiming that the earth would be destroyed and uninhabitable in the next 20 years. Twenty years later, and it hasn't happened yet!

What I find EXTREMELY humorous is that they will do a report about "the very real threat of global warming" and then they'll go to the weather guy, who says, "And now, across the nation. Record lows in Denver this week. Hundreds are left without power as the strongest ice storm on record hits the city. Three feet of snow and it doesn't look like it's letting up."
Now that's what you call ironic. =)

I don't need anymore proof, I have been pontificating on this subject as long as I have been a member of yahoo answers. I also firmly believe, that we have past the point of no return, you aint seen nothing yet, as far as freak weather and flooding is concerned, but I am a lone voice in the wilderness on this to, just as I was on global warming until recently.

The fact that other industrialized nations want to leave it, and that scientists that once behind the movement are changing their opinions and turning away from the idea. There is also the fact that the United States is moving away from fossil fuel burning due to other global influences as well.

If we found alternatives to fossil fuel that made the global warming scenario less possible, who would it hurt???

Outside of the petroleum companies and their rich stock-owners???????????????

Somewhere between "Hysteria" and "Denial" the truth about global warming lies. The hardest part is to strain all the politics out of it and make gradual changes to stop it.

Scientific facts that either demonstrate or refute global warming are all I want. To date, there are none that demonstrate global warming is anything more than a natural phenomena so I do not believe mankind is causing it.

My education is all scientific in nature so I tend to ignore hyperbole and rely on facts.
