I have a childhood friend who likes to boast about herself, education, her family, her work and stuffs like that. I'm a listener. I don't mind listening to her though at times she irritates me. Cos in my heart, i've always have the soft side for her. To me, she's a friend of mine. But as time goes by, she began to copy me. When i love maroon, she loves maroon too. She even wore maroon dress for her engagement and copy the hairstyle that i had for my engagement previously. Urgh! She even asked how much is my ring, the carat of my ring and my dowry. And then she'll buy something that is bigger than mine and dowry that is much more expensive than mine. Is she is challenging me? Don't u think its too much? I feel so sad. Why does she behaves this way towards me? I just want a normal gd friend.

You are probably the only positive person in her life. She likes to follow you which makes you a leader.

Try approaching her with empathy. Even when she boasts.
I recommend learning marshall rosenberg's method of nonviolent communication to get a better connection so you aren't irritated by her boasting and copying. She has a deep need to be accepted and to be part of the group with you.
try connecting with that.

Maybe she likes your style.Ignore her or you will never be pleased when you buy something new if you always think she will copy you. Good luck.

I'd ask her why she was copying me, but I would say it in a way that doesn't get her mad or offended.
