You should try to have your registry done around the same time you send your invitations, although many people prefer to wait until a bridesmaid or someone else has suggested the idea of a shower.

The time to register for wedding gifts is when you have the plans for your wedding solidified and it's less than 6 months off. To do it any earlier is silly because nobody is looking to get you a gift until they have an invitation to the wedding. You send out wedding invitations 4 - 8 weeks before the wedding.

By the way, it is totally inappropriate to list on the wedding invitation where you are registered. That's like ASKING for gifts. The wedding gifts are voluntary and given in good spirit...not because they are expected. What you are expecting is for your good friends and family to show up and join you in your special day. If they bring nice gifts, that is wonderful, but you should not ask for them. If someone asks you where you are registered, then it's perfectly okay to tell them. But don't print it on any invitation.

You should register about 6 months before your wedding.

Showers are usually held 2-3 months before the wedding, this gives you a few months to set it up, then after your shower people will be able to look and see whats left if they want to shop off your registry for your wedding gift.

Well I'd say register about 6 months before your wedding date.

When is the wedding? I would register at least 8 to 12 weeks before a bridal shower is to take place, so your guests will have time to shop.

No more then 6 months before the wedding, a lot of things are seasonal like china patterns and bedding so if you want something in a specific design sometimes it is no longer available. this happened to my friend on her bridal registry, because she registered so early.

Have you even set a date yet? Generally speaking most bride to be's don't register until the date has been set. Perhaps you and your future husband should discuss a date. Then after that register.

Once you have set the wedding date you will send out the invitations. On the invitation will be the place where you are registered for gifts.

I'd register as soon as you set a date, at least 60 days prior to when any showers may be held.

Register now! It is a great way for people to know exactly what you want. People can use the list for any gift giving ocassion (birthday, christmas, etc) as well.
