No. I just made reservations for a JetBlue flight with 3-4 weeks advance planning. There were just 10 seats available. JetBlue and others have been running great fare sales lately and will probably sell out.
Your best bet might be to book it ($39 on many flights), and then cancel if you won't use it. You'll lose most of your $, but not all of it, if you cancel in advance (at least on JetBlue).

If you mean walk up to the ticket counter and get a flight the same day, I doubt it. You need a reservation. You can fly standby but you still need a reservation to do this.
Remember what the first 3 letters of assume are and don't become one by assuming anything!
