I'm 26 and have noticed over the past 3yrs i get really hot and break out in red blotches over my skin when i have a drink sometimes which is embarassing. Im not an alcoholic and i only drink at the weekend. I used to drink a lot when i was younger and nothing ever happened but now i could have 4 drinks and i go red. I used to notice it happended when i drank vodka or any kind of spirit or when i mixed my drinks so i stuck to beer but now i've noticed it not the spirits because it also happens if i just drink beer. There are days i go out and mix my drinks and nothig happens and other days when a few beers makes me red. Can anyone tell me why this is. Is this natures way of telling me my liver is damaged or what. Is there anything apart from stopping drinking that i can do to prevent the redness.

My husband does this also. He can't drink beer, but can mixed drinks. He doesn't drink often. I would say it is the ingredients in beer or your blood pressure. Stick to the mixed drinks and have fun!!!

I don't think it's a big deal. My cheeks always get red when I drink, and a couple of my friends have the same probem. I doubt seriously at 26 your liver is damaged. If you're really concerned about it, see a doctor or just don't drink, but I don't think it's serious. I just warn people ahead of time or reassure them that I'm fine when they see my cheeks get all rosy. It's a little embarassing in new situations, but I just deal with it.

There are two reasons for this problem. # 1 Check your blood pressure before and when the redness appears. # 2 drink plenty of water before drinking and while drinking. Dehydration or higher than your normal blood pressure can trigger the red spells. Good luck.

4 drinks is a lot, Honey. My advice: Don't drink. It's pretty clear you're having a reaction of some sort.

Sounds to me like you're allergic to some ingredient in the booze.. There is mothing you can do but stop drinking. Your liver is not causing this. But drinking can be very dangeroud to you.

You have a reaction to alcohol and it sounds like you might have some rosacea too. There is nothing you can do to prevent this but you would be wise to see your doctor and let him check you out in case rosacea is part of the problem.
