Does it matter the size of these items if I don't carry it on with me and just put it in my luggage? Also, what is the size limit of a carry-on bag? If I bring my purse, would it be okay to put the 3 oz or smaller liquids I have (like lip gloss and hand sanitizer) in the quart size zip bag in my purse? Please advise. I'm traveling this weekend and was unsure of these things.

You can carry larger liquid items in your checked luggage. I would suggest that you visit the TSA website http://www.tsa.gov/ they have the complete list of what is allowed in both your carry on and checked luggage. As well as how your carry on luggage should be packed if you are traveling with liquids.

Hope this helps and have a great flight!

In general, you can put whatever you want in your checked luggage, as long as it fits.

However...

"Whatever you want" does not include anything that would be dangerous. Like a bomb or other hazardous materials.

OK, that's obvious.

However, aerosols can explode when subjected to the pressure changes in a baggage compartment. Besides any danger to messing up your clothes, a larger aerosol could be refused if the TSA (or the airline) finds that it's large enough to pose a potential hazard.

As a practical matter, if you want to bring a large bottle of shampoo, a single can of hair spray, some toothpaste, and so forth... you'll be fine to pack and check them.

I don't have the maximum size of a carry-on handy, but I will say that airlines are taking this seriously. A purse, by the way, does not count towards you "1 carry-on" limit, in the US.

You should get the quart ziplock bag and put your lip gloss, sanitizer, etc.) in it, as long as they all fit within the bag and are under 3 oz each. Then, you can put the ziplock in your purse or other carry-on. When you go through security, you'll need to take the ziplock out for separate screening from your purse/carry-on.

Doesn't matter the size of liquids for what you don't carry on. A 3 oz or smaller liquid is OK in your purse as long as you have it in a Zip lock.
Size limit of carry-ons is airline dependent but usually 45 inches in height and depth. Check this sight or call your carrier:
http://www.frequentflyer.oag.com/traveller_services/carryonguide.asp

As a general rule, your limited to 1 item in the overhead bin and 1 item under the seat in front of you. If you are in a bulkhead seat, there is no seat in front of you!

It mostly depends on the airport. I was flying from Burbank and they would not allow liquids or gels of any kind in the carryon. When I left from Phoenix they gave us little baggies to put our liquids and gels in that was later inspected. You should call your airport and ask if you think it is important to bring these things in your carryon. The size limit for a carryon is about the size of a laptop computer in a full on protective case. Also beware that they do random searches and may go through your things and if they see something and they don't know what it is they will take it because they don't have time to inspect and put it back.

The 3 oz size applies only to carry on. You can pack full size in your checked luggage.

if u are bringing 3oz liquids
u will have to put them in a ziploc bag
and show security
but if its in your luggage that u are not carrying on
it doesn't matter of the size
u need to check with the airline about the size limit of your carry on
sometimes its different with each airline
