When quoting Genesis 6:2 "That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they [were] fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose."
- Note that is states "sons" (plural) of God, taking the daughters of men (the sons of God were not men).
Genesis 6:4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare [children] to them, the same [became] mighty men...
- Obviously the children of the sons of God and women of men became heros or demigods (see Hercules for example).
- Why is it that Christians can not realize that the OT was written well before the NT? Nothing in these quotes state that we all are the children of God, it SPECIFICALLY states that the sons of God took wives that were the daughters of men. Hence, when you learn to read, you will note that it states that the sons of God are NOT human (read the Bible if you can).

Caveman: Did I step on that Christian nerve of yours? Remember what Christ said, turn the other cheek. And you obviously must forgive me for my ignorance, because Christians quote the Bible to use for their discrimination against homosexuality (actually that comes from the OT, same place as this one or the impossible story) and that quoting is ok, because it is GOD telling them something. But then when something else is quoted that you can't answer, you state that it is all up to translation or any other excuse that you can come up with.
All I am asking, is that the Bible that is stated is the word of God clearly states that the "sons" of God took human wives for themselves. Read Genesis 6, and see what it says. It clearly indicates that those "sons" of God were not human.

Channiek: Go to my profile and read my question on Noah. I have been around large animals my whole life and realize the amount of food that they would need to be on the ark for 375 days. And yes it states in the Bible that they were on the ark for 375 days. I actually have read the whole Bible many times, having gone to Catholic school over here and when in England at school there we also had to read the Bible and had mass everyday (Anglican). So I am actually more versed in the Bible than most people.

Vanhammer: How is quoting the Bible and stating the chapters taking it out of context? I read the passage and put them down. Oops, did I take what you said out of context?

Christian93: What is there to understand? You state that the Bible was written by God, hence it is perfect. I quoted your perfect Bible, and you state that because I am not saved I can not understand it. That is such a good way to cover your butt, by stating that anyone who does not believe can not possibly understand. Granted it is a cop out.

Christians: Please at least attempt to stop contradicting yourselves. First I miss quoted, then they are fallen angels, then Hercules is a myth, but then their offspring could have brought on the Hercules story, etc. Someone is obviously a terrible teacher out there since the students (followers) can't agree on anything.

lol. Yes. Notice the Christians that have so far replied have pretty much completely ignored what you said.

Edit: It was NOT the Jewish and Christians that brought literacy to the world, it was the printing press. And that was a secular scientific development.

The "sons of God" in this case were angels who saw beautiful women on earth and wanted them. Some theologians speculate that this is part of what led to the angelic rebellion against God and the fall of one third of the angels.

However, the following references in the New Testament clearly refer to human beings as "sons of God."

1John 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Phillipians 2:15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world.

1John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

So in this case, the reference is to people who believe in Christ and have become sons of God through spiritual adoption.

Next time, how about delving a little deeper into the Bible and looking at things in context before you accuse others of not having the ability of reading. Reading is both understanding the content and the CONTEXT.

Edit:

Is there any subject anywhere on which everyone agrees? I don't think so. The answers I gave you are based on the most common interpretation of that passage, based on the orginal Hebrew texts and scholarly study.

You might as well be up front and say that you are not going accept any other interpretation than your own. It would be the honest thing to do.

religious concept isn't approximately rationality. ok, i'm suggesting reducing them merely slightly slack. faith isn't a rational reaction to the international. it extremely is a organic reaction to concern although. whether the phobia is many times created via the religion. concern paralyses concept. If somebody can crank up the phobia until eventually it extremely is a screaming terror then they could grant an escape factor. ninety 9% will take the escape from concern. The escape factor is a effective shield cage the place you're instructed each little thing is superb as long as you do as you're instructed and in no way doubt what you're instructed. concern is an magnificent administration. to question brings you lower back into that state of shock. Religions at the instant are not the only ones ruling via shock. Governments count very heavily on concern. For concern to artwork it could have something to threaten. faith threatens life. It actual creates a promise of an eternal soul and an eternal chuffed place to bypass to, then threatens that with a Hell of eternal suffering or actually dying of the eternal soul. government threatens property, liberty, and life. in case you do not do using fact the Gov says they are going to superb you, wreck your credit, grab your private residing house, imprison you or perhaps excecute you. there is likewise the presentation of exterior threats, like enemy countries. After the crumple of the Soviet Union the US gov got here across themselves in an mind-blowing catch 22 situation. that they had no doable exterior enemies. they could not boost China as a probability at that factor. Yes. I can read.

Understanding scripture takes something that an unsaved person does not have. It takes being filled with the Holy Spirit.

The sons of God (notice that "sons" is not capitalized) were the fallen angels that Satan took when he was kicked out of Heaven. Those angels wanted to go with Satan. They are what we call now demons. These demons that reproduced with women produced half demon, half humans. They are what God refers to as the nonredeemable race. That was the purpose of the Great Flood. These demons who had the power to do this are now bound and will not be released until they are thrown in the Lake of Fire.

CORONA001--I BELIEVE IN THE INERRANCY OF THE BIBLE. GOD SAYS THAT TO UNDERSTAND HIS WORD WE MUST BE FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT.
I DID NOT STATE THAT THE BIBLE WAS WRITTEN BY GOD. ONLY THE 10 COMMANDMENTS WERE WRITTEN BY GOD. THE REST OF THE BIBLE HAS MANY AUTHORS. THEY STILL GAVE US GOD'S WORD. IT IS STILL TO BE TAKEN AS THE WORD OF GOD WITH ABSOLUTELY >>NO ERRORS.<<

FURTHERMORE: I BELIEVE THAT I WAS AGREEING WITH THE FACT THE THE sons OF GOD WERE NOT HUMAN. THEY WERE NOT HERCULES'S UNLESS THAT TRANSLATES INTO FALLEN ANGELS OR DEMONS.

I'm a Christian, and I don't believe that we are all God's children. We show by our actions who our 'father' is. In fact, Jesus said at John 8:44 "You are from your father the Devil, and you wish to do the desires of your father. That one was a manslayer when he began, and he did not stand fast in the truth, because truth is not in him. When he speaks the lie, he speaks according to his own disposition, because he is a liar and the father of the lie."

The "sons of God" you refer to were angels who forsook their "proper dwelling place" (Jude 6) and the offspring you speak of (the Nephilim) are the likely sources from which mythological tales (such as Hercules) spring.

Only by taking God's side in the issue of universal sovreignty and obeying his laws and principles can we be called children of God.

Perhaps, but more importantly, they have condemned their very own race as unclean and unworthy of life, even though it is a life that even they are given.

They see the world as a terrible place, focus on the bad while pretending on focusing on the good, if that were untrue, why are they obsessed with the idea there is something better after this life is over?

The "sons of God" refers to the children of Adam that retained the knowledge that God gave Adam and Eve. and they mis-used the knowledge. So God wiped them from the face of the earth for their evil that was in their hearts.

5 The LORD saw how great man’s wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. 6 The LORD was grieved that 'he had made' man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain. 7 So the LORD said, “I will wipe mankind, 'whom I have created', from the face of the earth—men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air—for I am grieved that 'I have made them'.”
Giants were still around in the time of David. The Philistines had some who were brothers.

You should learn to read everything IN context.
It says that God killed what "HE" created.

Christians can read

the "sons of God" you are referring to were fallen angels (therefore FORMER sons of God) who mated with human pagan women out of lust...these were thought to be the progenitors of the philistines, who were giants in the land of canaan. They were half human and half demon. The philistines were finally defeated by the house of king David, after the Israelites returned to their homeland.

hercules was a myth...

christians know when the OT was written. i do not think you understand the concept of the "children of God" as a spiritual concept. I think you are getting this concept confused with this early story ... which were really physical sons of demons, not god....

You stopped to soon! They were all destroyed in the flood! Jesus is the only BEGOTTEN Son of God. Begotten from the dead. He is the only Son of God that was raised to life after death. If we believe this and continue in the word, we become co-heirs with Christ and are given the right to be called the children of God. Jesus was born of a woman so that makes him of mankind. In the old days people were killed by the Catholic church for trying to translate the bible into languages that people could read. It's sad that all that seems to have gone for naught.

Too many people are content to think of themselves as sheep and to believe whatever their local shepherd says to.
