It may be zero; if it is, then no tax was withheld.

Without knowing your income and how many withholding exemptions you claimed on the Form W4 that you filed with your employer there's no way to say if a mistake was made or not.

If it's zero, it might be blank instead - that means the same thing. Check your paystubs - if you did have taxes withheld, then talk to your employer and ask for a corrected W-2. If you didn't have federal income taxes withheld, then the W-2 is OK if it has a blank in that box.

Check your W4s. If you selected exempt then you won't have any withholdings. If you didn't, you can get corrected W2s. I think you request them from your payroll department.
