Do i claim my husband as a dependent if he was unemployed this year? what are my options to file? Married together or seperate? or Do i file head of household?

No, you never claim a spouse as a dependent.

You can file a joint return even if only one of you had income. It's usually in your best interest to do so. When you file a joint return, you get 2 personal exemptions; one for each of you.

If you file separate returns -- Married Filing Separately only, you can't file HoH or Single -- will cost you MUCH more in taxes.

No, a spouse is never a dependent for tax purposes. Your best option is almost surely to file a joint return. Your only other option is to file as married filing separately, which will almost surely cost you more in taxes.

Since you are married, no, you can NOT file as head of household. And the taxes there are higher anyway than filing joint.

Married filing jointly.
You are not entitled to Head of household unless you are single with a qualifying child.

File Jointly.

Spouse are never a dependent but you will get an exemption for him by filing Jointly.
