The next tattoo or tattoos I want to get is a R on my left wrist and an A on my right wrist. I want to get them because my boyfriend has the same ones on the back of his arms. (we have the same initials) How badly does an inner wrist tattoo hurt? Because my boyfried says that they hurt. He thinks I wont be able to stand it.

I am a tattoo artist and I have 3 tattoos on the bottom of my wrist and 1 on top ...
The fact is each person handels pain differently so it all depends on your ability to cope with pain as to how well you will handel it. You might see if the artist that is going to tat you will do a possible dry run on you 1st.
I personally think it felt somewhat like a rug burn before and after it did not bother me much my lower back and shoulder hurt 10 times worse.

The inner wrist is a sensitive spot to tatoo so yes it would be a bit more painful then one on your ankle so to say. My suggestion to you is to think very hard about this type of tatoo though. Initials although they are yours as well will always remind you of him not just your initials. Sure you can tell people what it is but i mean really why would you get your own initials tatooed on yourself?
Second for thought is the wrists are seen in working enviroments. Although tattooing is no longer taboo alot of jobs still will not hire someone with tats that show no matter how small they are.
When looking at a tatoo always look at it from a different standpoint to decide if it is what you really want because other than lightening it later, they are more difficult to remove then they are to get. Also think of what your children or grandchildrens questions or what they might say if your like me..LOL

It definitely hurts because the inside of your wrists has such a thin amount of skin.
You really shouldn't be thinking about the pain though. It's irritating, but if you want them, just get it done.
You'll be able to handle it, trust me. You're just getting two letters on each wrist. That's not too extreme.
You'll more than likely sit a lot better than your boyfriend because girls tend to have a much greater tolerance for pain in these kind of situations.

That is a feminine place to get YOUR initials. Lots of girls are getting their wrists tattooed these days. Its coming just as big as the "tramp stamp".

The inside of the wrist hurts because it is very close to the bone- but I think you will be fine. Just make sure you are doing it because YOU think its cool and YOU want to do it, not him- because you are the one who has to live with it for the rest of your life. Also consider the wrists carefully- remember that a lot of employers don't approve of tattoos- esp tattoos in plain sight! Good luck.

you'll be fine. tattoos hurt where ever you put them they just hurt more when they are on thinner skin and your wrist has very thin skin in that area. make sure you go tto an artist who you KNOW has done wrist tattoos before. you'll be able to hand it :)

I think it's a terrible idea to do it cause of a "boyfriend", I'd wait till your married. Trust me, a tattoo that you don't like IS NOT FUN!!! That's not a very feminine place to get them, if you really want YOUR initials on your body, how about your butt cheeks?!

Yes the inner wrist is a sensitive spot, but i think you can hack it. The worst place i have experienced so far ..was my big toe !! That hurt like hell. I also would not get ANYONES name or initials on my body..but that is just my opinion.

The inner wrist, to me was almost painless. Of course the artist who did it was very light handed. The most painful part was just above the palm of my hand.

IT hurts pretty badly....anywhere there is less fat hurts. Skin and bone are painful places, like the feet and rib area.
