Why are so many people defensive to the concept that there is but One God? That the divine inspiration of billions of Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Baha'is, Native Americans, the "Absolute Reality", Zoroastrians and Jews could be One God?
God Herself promised she would never leave us without guidance.
Consider - the spiritual teachings (such as the Golden Rule) of ALL God's religions are one and the same. All give praise to God and serve to enhance our spiritual relationship with God. Only their outward social teachings differ, attributing the varying needs of the ages in which they were promulgated. Of course the needs of 2000BC India were different to 600AD Arabia! What difference makes it? God is Omnipotent; there is She cannot do.
Jesus said that in 0AD, for the Jews, he was the way and the truth. Was not Moses also in his time? The flower displaces not the bud, but fulfills. If 10 mirrors were turned towards the same Sun, while different, would they not reflect the same Sun?

I can't find the "the trinity" anywhere in the Bible.
Most difference are created by flawed man-made intepretation.
How is it conceivable that a merciful, loving God would condemn to Hell all those disagreed with him?
And please... please explain to me how the divinity of Christ is an important point? God's important. Why admire that mirror over the Sun?

Well, I personally believe God is a He, but that's a different story.

Well, if you look at all of the major religions (or the ones I can think of, there may be more); Christianity, Jewdaism, Islam, Buddhist, etc. You see a fascinating trend.

First off, most of these religions (excluding Buddhism, I think, correct me if I'm wrong) believe in one God (this is interesting, since somewhere in the Bible it's been said that God has many names).

Second, If you boil them down to their basic principles, there is another trend. Thou Shalt Not Kill is usually included, and members are encouraged to live with high morals, be chaste, etc.

And, if you sum them all up in one phrase, you would get:

Love One Another.

I wonder where that comes from?

Could it be that the founders of these various religions were inspired from that one God, and that, over the years, man has since altered what was originally taught?

Now, if this theory were in fact true, wouldn't that mean that all of those Holy Wars, etc, were simply a battle over what name God was called? When he has specifically told us to love one another? I think that's rather Ironic.

It's a theory I'm working on.

I think it is quite likely that all religions did come from One Source...a very, very long time ago.
But then, as people drifted apart, and generations came and went, truth became legend, and legend became myth...and the One Source got lost, or at least, badly garbled.
That is why God had to choose a race to keep the truth, and to bless all the nations of the world by bringing the Savior into the world.
If you turn a mirror to the sun, and only look into the mirror, all you will see is a reflection of the sun. The farther away you take the mirror, say, into your house, the dimmer that reflection will get...till you take it so far, you lose the original reflection completely, and are left with only your memory of what the reflection was like.

if they were truly all from one source, they wouldnt contradict each other so much...teaching opposite truths...

one religion teaches that there is no eternal suffering in Hell for the wicked and another teaches that there is...how can both be right? or that Christ is a trinity with God and the Holy Spirit and another religion teaches that there is no trinity? Either the bible is true or its not.

If two statements are mutually exclusive, ie. contradict each other, then both cannot be true.

CS Lewis remarked that many religions have a myth that "strikes a chord" , in other words, has a semblance of truth. Yet, there is only ONE TRUTH.

"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me." -Jesus [John 14:6]

Not inconceivable...many believe in the harmony of all religions and that they all lead to the same place.

Many paths exist up a mountain, but all lead to the top.

Your logic is twisted and back-asswards.

By your standards, a cake will taste just as good, and come out just as well, no matter what ingredients I choose to make it with, so long as I still call it a cake.

Nonsense!

They contradict each other, have different numbers of gods, change over time, condemn other religions...

They're all just stories.
