While mobilizing at Camp Shelby, MS the AAFES clothing sales had moisture wicking foliage green t-shirts for sale right next to the moisture wicking tan t-shirts. I purchased a 3-pk. of shirts, but was just questioned as to whether they were "authorized" ? The newest update I can find to AR 670-1 is dated early 2005 and does not even address ACU's. I know that there are several on-line pages that indicate that the brown cotton and tan moisture wicking t-shirts are authorized, - but is "foliage green" authorized ? Or if not, then why would AAFES be selling them through Clothing Sales implying that they were ?

The new AR 670-1 is coming out later in the year. I seen it though a AKO. It says that the tan shirt is going to be the only authorized shirt with the ACU's. AAFES is interesting on sell stuff that isnt authorized.

The green shirts you are speaking of are the fire resistant shirts. When they came out with the moisture wicking shirts they relized in certain situations they could become a fire hazard. The general rule is only certain type of units can where they like fuelers, tankers, and others that have a dergree of fire hazard involed in there job. You command should have a uniform policy so check with you unit before hand.

We had them on sale at the Camp Liberty PX for $5.50!

I bought a couple short sleeve and a couple long sleeve and I wear them all the time. You can't sling a dead cat around here and not hit a CSM. None of them have told me I can't so I'll keep wearing them.

That black long sleeve silky shirt you got?

You'll use the heck out of it over here.

EDIT:

Oh, one HUGE no, no...

Those blood type tapes you can get in the sewing shop...Don't do it. You can't wear them, anyway....
