Is it because it does have contradictions, or is it something else? What else could it be?

No examples. You would try to refute them instead of answering the question. I have plenty of examples in my older questions.

Precisely because it's your first glance, just as at first glance, you would make assumptions/judgments of people around you. To read the Bible is to get to know the Person of Jesus Christ, so your first glance at the Bible would be your first glance at Christ. As you read with an open heart and mind, the picture of His face gets clearer and clearer (w/the help of the Holy Spirit).

Think of it as a book, written in code for believers (the Holy Spirit is the decoder) to truly understand its meaning and for non-believers to be continually baffled by it.

The ugly truth is that the Bible does have contradictions. The bible was written so long ago on tablets and the only way to make copies of the bible was by having one man read the words while hundreds of scribes pounded out the words onto tablets. It was very easy for people to make mistakes and there was no way for it to be completely accurate. There are several contradictions in the New Testament about the early life of Jesus just in the first four books. The next task of spreading the word of the bible was to have it translated into several different languages. There are many errors involved when someone wants to do that. Different languages and cultures have different words for different ideas and concepts. Just as no two languages are alike, no two cultures ideas and concepts are completely alike either. That is why it is so hard to know the true meaning behind what the words are saying. The King James Version is probably the closest edition of the bible to the Dead Sea Scrolls. There were also several books of the bible that were taken out and not included. The catholic church had a lot of control over what went into the bible during the time of the crusades. There are many gaps to the whole truth as many books that contradicted with things even more were omitted and many books were burned and we have absolutely no record of them today. Make your own interpretations of the bible based upon what your heart is telling you and not what any man tries to tell you is real.

I am not a christian, but I do study the Bible and believe it is G-d's word for all of us. I have an older version of the Bible from back in the year 1553. The Bible has been tampered since, because when I compare it to the modern version of Bibles today, especially the new king james version and the jeohava witness bibles, they are not translated correctly. They have done so many changes to many words and it makes it seem like the bible has many contradictions. That is why there are so many religions that are claiming to have the correct translation. They all translate according to what is convinient for their religious organization. The Bible is G-d inspired, but the original texts have been tampered and that is why we have so many different translations.

Different true points of view and experiences.

For example, hang around with 3 friends for at least one week. Then each one write an essay on what happened that week.

The advantage of the Bible is that Holy Spirit/God was behind the writings so that they were pure truth. 2Tim.3:16,17; 2Peter 1:21.

Nonetheless, you can see a good example if the 4 of you write essays.

Consider though that the apostles and disciples wrote about a 3 1/2 year time period.

I wish you would be more specific when you ask something.
Sometimes you might think there is a contradiction, because of a number of reasons; you may not have taken note to the subject and object of what is being discussed; or, you may be reading an idiom (a saying) and not realize it; or, it could be something symbolic that is meant to help you better understand a thing.
Or, you could just be looking for contradictions.
The Bible, when clearly understood, does not have contradictions; it is clear information, with common sense applied.

well, if you had received the Holy Spirit you would be reading the Bible with eyes that do not read contradictions. if you had faith in the Holy Spirit you could ignore or excuse or justify all the seeming contradictions because the Holy Spirit will twist the context of the verses for you so everything in the Bible makes PERFECT sense. see? being a Christian imbued with the power of the Holy Spirit improves your reading comprehension skills. if you're not Christian you can not understand the Bible. don't you know that?

It appears that way because it is true. There are multiple glaring contradictions. The Xian god-tards always say to read with your heart of something silly like that. Instead, read with your mind and use simple logic. It is apparent that the book was written by primitive men who were simply telling fairy tales.

Probably because it was created and edited by so many different hands. You might have noticed that many times when you look at the credits of a very bad movie, there are 4 or 5 different writers. Multiply that by the number of hands that have written, translated and edited the Bible.

Because it is merely that--first glance. Comparing passages that seem to contradict have shown me that different authors were writing from a different perspective. Much the same as if you and I were to be standing on opposite sides of a room, and asked to describe an object that was between us. You would be describing the front of the object, while I would be describing the back of the object. Our perspectives when compared may seem to contradict, but someone able to view both sides of the object would then be able to verify both perspectives.

Maybe cuz your whole purpose in glancing in the first place is in order to find some "contradictions" you found on some web-site, or heard about from some nutter?
Try actually reading it for yourself, with an open mind, for a change....
