Film with an ISO rating of 800 and below are safe in newer x-ray machines, and I am making the guess that your polaroid film is far from that, perhaps in the 100-400iso range which is safe. Anyhow, if you are really worried about the fogging, ask the security person to do a manual check, I have them do this all the time with my high speed film. As a rule it is always a good idea to bring your cameras and film as carry-on if you can.

Should be alright, modern machines for carry on luggage are designed to be film safe now. Just to let you know I did take film on a long overseas trip, went through NINE x-ray machines (at Heathrow, Schipol, BCIA, HKIA, Syndey and Brisbane), they were fine. After all that, I'm still not comfortable flying with film, and so I usually keep film for UK use only. Also I'm not sure how good the backing paper for 120 film is, I've never flown with medium format, but then again most people don't travel with medium or large format. So I'd recommend requesting a hand inspection (or nitrate swab) for 120s and 220s and sheet film. I'd also recommend the same for your disposables.
