The general medical consensus is that it is better to feed a dog several small meals than a single large meal, as it reduces the risk of BLOATING which can be potentially fatal to dogs.

Although the prevalence and other significant causes of this risk are questioned, nearly all vets agree (and I think empirical studies have shown) that the risk of bloat is increased by larger as compared to smaller but more frequent meals.

But in the end, it depends on your dog and your schedule and time constraints.

The amount of food that a dog eats, and the number of times per day that a dog is fed changes as it matures. From 5 to 6 months a puppy can be fed 3 times a day, at 6 months of age, your puppy can be fed in 2 separate meals. Although your dog is starting to look like an adult, it is still a puppy, and needs to be on a puppy food for the first year. The changeover to the adult dog food should be done gradually - preferably over a week.

After six months, you can feed your dog two meals a day; and at one year of age, there should be only one meal, though if you like you can divide the one meal into two smaller portions, one in the morning and one in at night.

typically depends on what kind of dog you have. i have two bernese mountain dogs. they are 1 and 7. i feed them 2 cups in the morning and 2 cups at night. when they were puppies we fed them more often. eventually, the 7 yearold will start eating 1 a day. it is better to divide it up. that way the food stays fresher than just sitting there all day.

you also should change their water to keep it fresh. every couple hours if possible. they have water things out that release water every so many hours. you set the times. =] hope i helped!

Pups younger than 15 weeks should be fed a minimum of 3 times a day. Once they get older then go to twice a day. Never free feed or feed only once a day. Can you go 24 hours on one meal only?

I fed my dog once a day. I think this is better than divided the feeding because they don't have accidents in the house. Dog's are in better shape. The best thing to do is call the vet. Tell them what kind of dog you have and see what he/she suggests.
