I think the others have covered it well.

1. It is not uncommon for a dog of 7 months to not go more than three times a day (24 hour cycle) if you are meaning stools. Dogs, once in a routine, vacate their bowls in and around feeding times and any other routine involving the location of this process. A grown dog will "go" as many times a day as you feed it and, on other occasions, only if there is a routine involving access to the designated area for this.

For example- my dog is fed twice a day and so "goes" twice a day- once just after her breakfast and then, oddly enough, before her dinner. As for urination- she can go, and I kid thee not, for 18 hours without weeing. This is because she has a cast iron bladder at 4 years of age (but was already "dry" at 3 months and very 4 to 6 hourish then) for which I claim credit. She inherited it from me (ROFL! Sorry... Being flip. She has a good diet and I am very bladder conscious).

She uses the very large garden we have so has complete access to her "toilet."

If you are concerned have a look at the stools. Are they healthy looking? If so there is no cause of concern. If they are darker or shinier (slimy) than usual you have to do as the others suggest- see a vet. Dark or "black" stools indicate blood which can be a cause of retention of stools too. Think constipation...

2. Each dog is different. If your older dog goes four times and your younger dog only twice that is no reason to be alarmed- different animals have different habits. We don't all have the same toilet habits either!

And if the younger dog has ALWAYS been like that (and not just suddenly) then there is even less reason for concern. Only time to worry is if something for THAT dog is out of the ordinary.

3. Check the fur around the back end. Spincters do not "like" the fur coat being matted. As was suggested a nice bit of toilet paper or cotton ball with baby lotion or even olive oil in one hand and the tail of the dog in the other (with the dog pinned by your legs) will work wonders. Keep that area clean and free of faeces to help it along.

:-)

I am glad to see someone who is so aware of their charge's habits and notes this! You will do well, I am sure!

Maybe the older one has the problem, my dog will only go out a couple of times a day, especially in the winter [shes a big jessie]
Most puppies go after they have been fed, and when they wake up from a sleep, in the winter, when they tend to drink less its less often, dont worry, but as someone said, if its longer than about 10 hours ring the vet and see what they say.

At 6 months I'd expect them to be able to hang on for 4 hours, so I wouldn't be concerned yet.
Don't make a big deal out of it or you could put her off!
If she hasn't gone at all by tomorrow morning, especially if her stomach is distended or she has any other symptoms then take her to the vet without delay.
And get your other dog checked out as an adult should be able to wait 5 hours. It might be habit, but better safe than sorry.

A five our gap between potty breaks is not very long. If your other dogs needs to go 5-6 times a day, perhaps there is a problem with that one.
Many dogs that live indoors wait 8-10 hours between trips outdoors while their owners are at work without any problems whatsoever.

A water hose is the best thing in the world for blockage!...lol, puppies are rarely on a schedule. Make sure he is getting enough water though and you can tell by the coat, the elasticity of the skin and if the poop is coming out in bricks... It might be time for a vet check too...

well first of all you have to ask yourself is this the way the pup has always been I mean in his going to the bathroom OR has this just recently been going on next step is if this is regular for him I wouldnt worry too much BUT if this just started happening he might have a bladder infection or kidney infection you want to make sure that he is getting plenty of water always leave wt dish out for him always try to take notice if he is urinating a little or alot when he does go I would bring him to the vet you can never be too sure good luck
