Life is a continuous process of creation and destruction; In order to build a new home, for example, one must clear the site first, thus one must destroy what is currently on this site, weather it is another building or Nature with its delicate echo system. Is only the creation part good or is the destruction part good also? Is destruction an act of God or evil? Is devil created by mistake--if so whose mistake-Gods? If one believes that God and Devil have equal powers one believes in more than one god--a food for thought.Thank you for asking.

The devil "Lucifer" was one of God's angels. He was known as the angel of light and was very beautiful. He was in charge of music and singing praises to God. Angels were created as free-willed beings. "Satan", the devil, "Lucifer", among others are all references to the same being. He became full of pride and said he would become like God and essentially take over. Read Isaiah 14: 12-15. If you don't have a Bible you can pull it up on line. God threw Lucifer out of heaven along with 1/3 of the angels that decided to follow him. Read Luke 10:18 and Revelation 12:7-9. It was not a mistake at all. Satan made his choice and so did the angels that followed him. God had a plan from the very beginning for our redemption. We have a choice too. Seems easy enough to me!

Nothing God does is a mistake. If He wanted a universe filled with robots He would've made that. (Get it?) But, He is loving and He gave even the angels room enough to reject Him. Finally, because He is sovereign, He will still take care of those who trust Him, no matter what Satan does. The devil is Jesus Christ's footstool! (Matthew 22:44) Praise God!

Here's how it goes:
God made three main angels: Lucifer, Gabriel, and Michael.
Some time long ago (not so much in a galaxy far away though... since galaxies didn't exist o.O), Lucifer started wanting more power. He wasn't quite happy with being an immortal being in charge of a third of Heaven's angels.
So he wanted more power. He rebelled against God. God, of course, being the infinitaetly powerful man that he his, damned Lucifer down to a newly created place, named "Hell". Lucifer, who took the name "Satan" as well as all his angels, all went down to hell (they were serving fresh doughnuts). So there he reigns.
Lucifer was originally a good person. But he turned to the dark side. So God knew what he was doing.
Now here comes the philosophical question: God, being infinitely wise, must have known that Lucifer would rebel. So why did he make him rebellious?

God created a creature named Lucifer. Lucifer welled up pride in his heart and furociously desired to be greater than God and set about to war with God to be greater than Him. Of course, the created cannot ever outpower the Creator. This whole earth, from the time of creation till the time it is destroyed, declares the glory of God. It is all about Him and His glory (for He is worthy and not a maniacal egomaniac like some make Him out to be when statements like this are made).

No we made up the devil just as we made up god. We had to otherwise how could we account for all the negative things that go on in the world. That couldn't possibly be the work of a righteous god, no.

God created satan so that he could have a reason to throw us into fire and have the believers go along with this story. God wanted SOME believers to hang out with him for eternity, but he also wanted to burn alot of people for eternity as an amusement, thus he came up with this whole "they believe or perish" then gave us hundreds of different religions and at the end of time he picks a religion out of his hat and that's the one that wins, while the rest of us burn!!
