have him talk to a civilian lawyer before he does anything, then turn himself in (w/the lawyer) anyplace except quebec (wise***).
try to find a lawyer with military experience or service.
good luck and god bless chesty puller wherever he is!!!
one last bit of advice, don't use the pasivist, conscience objector defense. it's lame and every marine i know (including myself) would have no respect for him. better to be an irresponsible drunkard than a coward.

sorry that last statement was a bit harsh, but he didn't join the peace corps. ( a very worthy organization, by the way)

He can go to his local police department. He won't be put in the military again. He will be dishonarably discharged and he will most likely be put in the brig (military jail). But the longer he runs the more punishment he will recieve. He needs to turn himself in asap.

I'm in the United States Army. If I had gone AWOL and then changed my mind, I would go to my nearest Army recruiting center. If your relative has a way of contacting his recruiter, he should. He would know what steps to take.

The Military Police Station at any military base will take him in. But he may be sent back to his original base for a stay in the brig........

any millitary instalation he needs to understand that going back to his unit would be light compared to what they could do to him we are at war they could shoot him if they choose to durring peace time they would probably discharge him but this is more serious than that the sooner he turns himself in the better off he;ll be
