Turkey has made incredible efforts in the last four years to create a more acceptable national infrastructure, more suitably aligned to EU norms. However, strong opposition to Turkish inclusion in the EU still exists - only a minority of polled citizens of anchor member states approve of the move - the comparatively poor, under educated, predominantly Muslim population does not fit easily into the essentially Western European mould.

DEAR Luis32789

the biggest problem is that we turks are Muslims and europe so called human rights fighters does not want a muslim community in their so called modern EU.
For the armenian issue there are no such thing as genocide from the turkish side but the armenians never talk about the genocide that they have done all over the southeastern villiages, my great great grand father was killed by the armenians. If Eu is putting this in front of us then ı will have to ask the same question to the French about the Algerians , ask English about İreland, Scoutland and many more countries that they are using as slaves for themselves. What Italians did in the northern africa and ethiopia or Spanish did to the Aztecs and Incas in the name of spreading christianity. SO WHAT ABOUT THEİR GENOCİDES ??????

and you dont have to worry about the turks exodus to the EU states because if you check we are already spread all around europe, and since europe is getting old interms of populatıon age they are scared of us because we have vast quantity of young populatıon and a very high historical confidence. So eventually if we manage to get in the EU with our young population probably we will be ruling all europe. : ))

And the Greeks are making everthing tense as possible because they have this very big complex because we have thrown them in to the Eagean sea during our Salvation Era along with the English at the Dardanelles .

We are the most peace loving country in the world. As Atatürk ( the founder of Turkey ) had said '' PEACE IN THE COUNTRY , PEACE IN THE WORLD. So we all follow his sayings. If you check ın the UN peace keeping Turkish troops are always sent to keep peace ın the troubled places. Because we have a good heart, hospıtality and good knowledge of family values which Europe hasn't.

If Bulgaria and Romania have managed to join the EU we normally have MORE chances to joın but this is just hypocritical.

And the other issues are just nonsense issues just to prevent us from joinig the EU .

And UREY thanks for asking this question ı guess you are a turk also but they will never change there minds .

so take care

bye

Turkey has made far leaps in advancing human rights, economic reforms, and improving their infrastructure but their chances of joining the EU are slim to none.

Reasons why Turkey won't be admitted:

(1) Most of it is in Asia

(2) The refusal to recognize the legitimate government of Cyprus.

(3) The refusal to admit their responsibility to the Armenian genocide,

(4) Borders Iraq and other Middle Eastern countries that are havens for Islamic fundamentalist terrorists

(5) The potential exodus of millions of Turks to other EU States.

(6) Rise in islamic fundamentalism within Turkey. Headscarves are now very popular although Turkey remains a secular state. Turkish women are forced to take their head scarves off in public buildings owned by the government (just like in France, Belgium).

(7) Relations with Greece are still tense

mine it s a big NO.
the european community should be open only to european countries. and geographically turkey is in Asia, only a small part of istambul is in Europe.
that is my reason.
plus they are way too different from us.it will cause a huge immigration problem plus other problems.
