The only purpose in a person's life is that purpose he gives himself. There is no universal purpose to life. If the whole wold were to blow up tomorrow, it wouldn't affect the rest of the universe much in the slightest.

However, our lives are important to us and each other. A man in isolation still values his life. Therefore, his life has purpose to him.

if isolation is the purpose, then he does meet or serve the purpose.
but if isolation is not the purpose(s), then he does not serve the purpose.
sometimes it is better to be in isolation and meet the purpose, rather than not be in isolation and not serve the purpose.
