I just got this and wanted to know do i need to pay for anything else? my husband is in the us army and we never done it online.. we dont even know how to do our own taxes. i got the W-2 form here.. I know i can just enter everything it asks but what about his re enlistment bonus? is that already included in his w-2? and it asks for 1099 which we dont have at all. Anyway, how long does it take for us to get our money back if done electronically?

Enlistment and re-enlistment bonuses are included in the amounts on Form W2.

Don't worry about any 1099s if you didn't get any as long as your only income is wages subject to withholding.

There may be a charge to e-file, depending upon the version of the software that you bought.

If you e-file and select Direct Deposit of your refund you should see it in 7 - 14 days according to the IRS. I've had refunds in as little as 4 days.

When you type the amounts in, enter the cents. TT will round the amounts up or down as needed.

Turbo Tax won't let you put in cents. You can and they will change it rounding up or down to the nearest dollar. That's normal.

I usually buy the boxed Turbo and upload to my computer. Not sure about the online version if it automatically comes with the e-file. I think it does included in the price. If you bought the boxed version the e-file is separate and costs an additional 14.95. You don't have to e-file and just us regular US mail which is what I usually do. Turbo will print out all the documents you need so you don't have to get any--just attach your w-2.

1099 are separate income given for a variety of different reasons. If you did not get a 1099 or received income from another source your will probably not be getting one and can skip that section completely. Just put in the section with wages. Other sections include stocks dividends etc . . . just skip the section if you know for sure it doesn't affect you.

And finally, not sure about this, but your husband's bonus would be included in his w-2. Also be sure to file married jointly--that'll get you the maximum deduction.

Turbo tax actually is pretty easy. It may take a bit to get used to but you'll be fine.
