I am thinking about getting a body toner belt (that you wear to tone and shape your body) has anyone tried them and do they really work?

The quality Bodi-Tek ones do work well at toning your abs, but they probably emit a lot of EMF into your torso, so aren't really healthy. You would only notice a difference if you have around 10% body fat level.

There are several different ones, mostly for sale on TV. some work by heating the area up, causing you to aweat. This does cause some weight reduction, but it is mostly watre weight and doesn't last. There are some "belts that use a small electric shock to stimulate muscle contractions. These will not aid you in losing weight, but they will contract the muscles. The truth is that none of the "toner" belts does anything you cannot do all by yourself, with no equipment at all. If you want to tone muscles, use the muscles.

TENS units
Transcutaneous Electronic Nerve Stimulation.
medical things.
All that they do is pulse a small electric current into your nerves through the skin causing your muscles to "jump".
I have had them used on me for physiotherapy, as muscle regeneration treatment following immobilisation after surgery, but I wouldn't like to comment on their use as weight reduction.
Strikes me that they would be about as much use as those belts attached to eccentric rotators that just wobble the fat around.
