I'm not sure how it works but I am sure that it works.
Several years ago I had an unusual experience concerning an uncle, a distant relative who lived over a thousand miles away.
While driving my car I suddenly felt the unmistakable presence of this relative that I hardly even knew. He was more like someone I had heard about than someone I knew. It was very strange; it felt as though I was momentarily lifted right out of my physical body. I seemed to be suspended somehow beyond space and time, bathed in a love so intense It felt like I could have just disappear into it at any moment if It would have let me. It only lasted for a few seconds, but it seemed to last forever at the same time. I realize how crazy this must sound. The experience was so strong that at first I was afraid I was loosing my grip on reality. I finally managed to chalk it up to an over active imagination.
Three days later I got a call from my aunt telling me that this uncle we are talking about had gone into a coma and died the day I had the experience. It felt like ice water had been poured down my back when she told me this. I had lost any real ideas of God or faith and had become somewhat of an atheist. Needless to say this experience caused me to rethink some of the conclusions I had come to.
I feel blessed to now understand that even in our darkest confusion something loves us so much that it went out of its way to assist me and bring me back to a state of absolute certainty about Gods love for us.
During the experience it seemed like there was a vast amount of information that I was somehow allowed access to. One thing that I came away from this experience understanding beyond any shadow of a doubt was that any Idea that God is unhappy with us or would judge or allow us to be punished for any reason is simply impossible.
I can’t explain the love I felt with words. They simply don’t make words big enough or complete enough to do this. The only way I can begin to convey this love to you is to say that there was simply nothing else there. Nothing but love. No hint of judgment, no displeasure of any sort. It is as though God sees us as being as perfect as we were the day we were created. It is only in our confused idea of ourselves that we seem to have changed.
I hope this is of some help to you. Good luck. Love and blessings.
Your brother don

I do believe in life after death. My belief is that we are all here to learn "life" lessons. We chose our life before we are born. Specifically, we chose our parent(s) according to "lessons" that need to be learned in that life. We all have many "souls". You have heard the comment "He/She is an old soul". Once we have learned our "lessons" on the earthly plane, we advance in the spirit world and become either guides to the living or other entities. I know of two people who have had near death experiences and that experience has changed their lives. Scientists argue that the NDE's are just the brain's way of dealing with impending death, but that does not discount the many people who have experienced "floating" over their physical bodies in an operating room watching and listening to the medical staff working on them and then once recovered can relay to the doctors/nurses exactly what they said while they were sedated. Interesting to say the least. There are a lot of books dealing with this subject if you do the research.

i do believe in life after death. my believe is kinda of the same believe i had when i was not so spiritual. when you die you turn to dust and are returned to the energy of the universe. there has to be something, not physical, that makes a being alive. be it man, cat, or insect. the only difference is now i want or hope i am conscious for this process.

I believe it's our spirituality that determines our existence in the next world. What is Heaven really? If a person loves God - where would they rather be than in the presence of their Beloved? And an eternity of emptiness... is not this Hell?
Our world can be likened to the world of the womb for the feotus - just as the feotus develops the physical tools such as eyes, ears and a nose necessary for life in this world - so too do we develop the characteristics such as generosity, love, compassion, forgiveness and self-discipline which will adorn our souls with the strength to fly to the heights in the next world.
Consider this world - one could look at the rock and say it is dead, but if he were to observe it closer he would see the quick movement of its atom and claim it be alive. So too could the difference be in the next world? Shall our souls quicken, dance and soar in the eternity of God's love - or will they remain static?
This where the similarity is drawn to Eastern religions. It is my belief that all religions are the same Truth, from the same God, and her religions cannot contradict - merely our understanding of Her metaphors. In the next world, we may be handicapped as the rock, or free to progress as the bird. But it does not end! We may still hearken to truth once the Nightengale of High sings her melody. But it will be harder. This is the concept of re-incarnation and Heaven and Hell, it's meaning has merely been lost as humans have degraded them to a literal interpretation of metaphor for the same truth.
That's my belief as a Baha'i anyway.
In that perspective - we're all right. I say Heaven is what we make it.

I believe in life after death, heaven, neitherplain, hell, destroy, and reincarnation for those that get bored of the afterlife, or for those that have bad karma to work off. Theres more plains and dimensions than that, but im not supposed to tell you everything!
PS christianity is an insult to spirituality.

Death is inevitable. The thief on the cross knew when his would occur, but we can not predict our own. After his death, the crucified criminal went to live in paradise with Jesus. Some of us will also live eternally in God's presence. But others will experience everlasting torment, forever separated from Him.
If we receive Jesus as our Savior, our penalty for sin is paid. We are adopted into God's family, and Heaven is our eternal home. If we reject Jesus, we remain alienated from the Lord and under condemnation for our sin. We are destined to experience eternal judgment. God won't accept any of man's excuses because there is no acceptable defense for unbelief. (Acts 4:12)

"Do you believe in life after death?" The question assumes we are our bodies...which we are not.
As for what I believe what will happen...I don't believe anything. I try not to form images and beliefs. I know there are other worlds, but beyond that - I am more concerned with the present and my current life.

I am a deeply spiritual person, however, I do not believe in an after life or a deity or even a supernatural. When we die, I believe, that's it, game over.
