I'm moving into a box room and want to know what colours would be best to maximise the comfort/appeal of the room. (wall colour/bedding etc) Would like to use colours that would 'warm' the room. There is a window at the back of the room beside the bed. Any suggestions/ideas would be appreciated.

Don't use any dark colors or borders. They will only make you feel closed in. If possible, buy a designer mirror and put it on the wall on the far side of the window. For window treatments, stick with the sheer colors that just drape in front of it. If it would look good, go with white.

As for bedding, I always like to go with a comforter that is overfilled but that might just make your bed look taller or wider. Maybe stick with a thin cover. Lots of pillows of course but that's just for you ;)

If you have a high speed connection, go to www.Behr.com

It allows you to play around with color combinations as well as transform a color by warming it, cooling, lighting and darkening.

I'd for sure paint the ceiling white. Anything else tends to fall down on you. If you want an "accent" wall, that is one with a bolder color, be calmer with the other three walls. For example, if you wanted a aubergine accent wall, then the other walls should be a more neutral warm white..not too white. Then trim on the window could be a ligher version of the aubergine.

Consider the quality of the light coming in through the window and your light fixtures. North windows give the poorest light so don't darken down your room, blues can become rather....dull.

I have been using water colors for smaller rooms and love the way it turns out.
think sea-glass colors..softer greens and blues with white. It will give you color, but at the same time give a lighter feel to the room.

Also, don't put too much furniture in the room. Go with a few larger/bolder pieces. This will give the illusion that the room is larger, since it is holding larger pieces.

You could group several mirrors on a wall, instead of one large one. This will open the room up and still give the appearance that the room can handle lots of pictures.

Have fun! Make it your space.

Use light colours for the walls/carpet etc, and add more colour with furniture and accessories. Also, you could put in a mirror to make the room look bigger, and keep it from getting cluttered to maximise the space you do have.
