Did germany ever influence Afghanistan?

There is a strong similarity between the Afghan language Pushto and German. How is this possible?

The local dialect, Pashtu is very similar to german. Has Germany ever occupied Afghanistan?

The only link between Pashto (a.k.a. Pushto) and German is that they are both Indo-European languages.
There are, however, a number of Western loanwords in Pashto, including German ones:
