I don't agree with the "it takes a village" theory. People should be responsible for their own children, and that includes finacial responsibility.

Your kid is not my problem.

well, the village idiot would have to be included in the population of the village, BUT the village idiot doesnt even know what a child is much less raise one. Hence the name - village idiot.

Absolutely. The village idiot is essential. Anybody can *tell* a child what happens if he acts like an idiot; only the idiot himself can *show*.

As for the idiot himself, he must be treasured by the village but he cannot be "raised". He is already in a state of perfection.

Apparently some of the people on this little "virtual village" seem to think it takes a LOT of village idiots to raise a child.

LOL...

The village idiot is the one that teaches the most, and gives the least and even in a village as large as the good old USA... Sometimes, the idiot, can become the president!

Cool huh?

That village included everyone, yes even the village idiot. We learn something from everyone that we encounter in our lives, whether its compassion, understanding, education, respect, or imagination.

What parent hasn't been the 'village idiot' when raising their child? Mistakes are made, its what you learn from them that make you a better person.

Well sure it would have to wouldn't it? As the village idiot IS part of the village (as a whole)

Sure, it includes the village idiot. Whoever introduced this phrase to American culture ought to have left it where they found it. Hillary Clinton in particular seems to beat everyone on the head with it. It's the most pathetic cliche that ever made people stand up and cheer - kind of like 'Power to the People' , a phrase that makes me cringe today.

What if your village is the one who raised the idiot?

Unfortunately it does include the village idiot! But sometimes even he/she has something good to learn from!

"village idiot" is just a way to say the "retarded one." Would the disabled individual be responsible for helping to raise the child, sure why not....the disabled community has many things to offer.

Seems to me your question is a thinly veiled insult, how old are you?
