I worked a few months in MD and changed jobs to a DE job. So I have W2s for both states. I prepared a DE return based only on the income from the DE W2. Then I did my MD return based on all of my income and claimed a credit for the DE tax return. It should be easier next year cause I will only have a DE W2 to file. Does this sound right.
Anyone that has filed a delaware return....by doing it this way I cannot fill out the federal column with the info from my federal return cause that is also based on my full amt of income from both states...not just DE. HELP!

I have done my taxes before so I have basic knowledge. I am trying to do this myself so I can keep from paying a preparer. I need all of this return for bills!

It sounds right. Just make sure that you filed a DE non-resident return if they have a separate form for that. The non-resident returns usually have a space allocate the income among multiple states.

If DE doesn't have a non-resident return form, their instructions must tell you how to apportion the income on the regular return forms.
