No, but the tapeworms have to go through the flea to infect your cat, it is more likely that your cat has an allergic reaction to the flea bite which will cause the fur to fall out; especially at the base of the tail. It could also be caused by other problems such as a fungal infection known as ringworm. Where is the hair falling out, is it in a circular pattern, is the skin where the hair is falling out flaky and dry?

The tapeworms should have nothing to do with fur falling out but the fleas that cause the tapeworms are probably he culprit. Get your cat on a flea preventative from your vet to get rid of the fleas and then get your cat a dewormer to get rid of the tapeworms

Hi, tapeworm will cause general ill-health so yes, your cat's fur can fall out because its out of condition.

Also tapeworms are caused by fleas so your cat is likely to have fleas.

I suggest you go to your vet for getting rid of the tapeworm and fleas.

You will also need to pay attention to getting rid of the fleas in your house.

No, I do not belive so. If their fur is falling out, than they most likely have ringworm, a type of fungi that causes fur to fall out in little "rings", and spreads VERY easily. If you do think they have ringworm, go to a vet quickly. They should give you a type of antifungal creme to put on it. Be on the watch for fur falling out on other pets' fur, and look for little red circles on you, as just about anyone can catch ringworm. Finally, if you can't tell weather or not it is ringworm, go get a blacklight. If the spots glow green under blacklight, then it is ringworm.

If your cat's hair is falling out in clumps I would have your vet do a skin scraping to determine if it has mange, which are parasites that live on the skin, causing the cat to be itchy and the hair to fall out. Depending on the type of mange it can be highly contagious to any other animals in the household as well as YOU!! I would start there....you have nothing to lose. Good Luck!

oh yes that is gross and I've had all my cats have this when they were little. Worms! Yuck! Just remember that you have to follow up with the dewormer in a few weeks to make sure you kill the flea cycle. Also make sure you cat is on some type of flea control, e.g. frontline, advantage, revolution It might be a good idea to wash any kind of bedding the cat is around and to vaccum to pick up any fleas. :)

I think it's ringworm that causes hair to fall out. See a vet to get some medication.
